Horn vs Mundine should be official next week. Fri Nov 30 Suncorp.
71 kg Catchweight ( providing Mundine signs in on weight penalties )
If this comes to fruition it can only be good for Hooper. He is not eligible for parole Sept 2019. He is too young and talented to throw away his career. A fight will keep him fit , weight down and focused.

Tim the Toolman TKO 1 Marcos Conejo

The Toolman used Conejo for a heavy bag until the ref decided he wasn't going to let the other guy take a beating for the entertainment of others.

    I agree with that approach.

There were no knockdowns but a lot of hard, clean punches getting through with nothing meaningful coming back.

I missed the Moloney v Concepcion fight. Perhaps someone who saw it can give us their thoughts.

The word is former NRL player John Hopoate is making a comeback on the Matt Rose card Nov 10. Though football players tend to hog the spotlight they do sell tickets and sadly that's the only way to sell boxing to a wider audience.
World no 1 Dennis Hogan news soon on a fight.
Jai Opetia heading overseas and fighting a world rated opponent.
    Good on you Jai.

    In the opponent's back yard.

That's how not to make it to the top.

2018 CMW Silver Medalist HW Jason Whateley won his pro debut beating NZ Navosa Ioata dec 6rds.
Dwight Ritchie now has a world ranking. This would mean it would be worth Tim Tzsyu fighting him. Just not in Melb.

Bilal Laggoune is ranked IBF no 11 and Jai Opetia WBO no 10. This is a dangerous
fight as Bilal has spent time in Canadian doing training camps.

A lot of good young heavies coming through: Goodall, Meehan, McKean & now Whateley.

Throw in that amateur kid who hopefully pushes on to Toyko (Justis Hunt) & there's a few worth following.

Hopefully at some point a few of them decide to fight each other.

Plenty of names in the mix for Tszyu next up: Colomban for the Australian title (if he's fit), Zerafa for the Commonwealth title (if he's game), Weetch for his world ranking & the fighting Cowboy from Shepparton.

    All good fights.

Some talk that Tszyu may take a fight overseas in November with Top Rank. If not, hopefully we see him on the Horndog v Mundine undercard. I need a reason for watching.

I like Tszyu quite a bit, but I pray you’re right about him taking one of those potential opponents. His last few opponents have really been quite pathetic and he needs more to showcase his ability and actually develop. I’d favor him in all those fights to be honest but the Zerafa one interests me the most

"Pathetic" is a strong word. I wouldn't go that far.

Someone who hits as hard as Tszyu is always going to have their share of early kayos. It would be a concern if he wasn't taking guys out in one-sided fashion at this stage of his career.

Of his last three fights, I thought that first Indonesian was respectable as an opponent. He gave it a decent go. The second one took a dive while the Argentinian on the weekend was just out-gunned.

I think the Australian title is the next logical step for Tszyu. The national champ at Junior Middle has been out injured which is why we haven't seen that fight yet.

He might not be ready before the year is out. Tszyu will go again in November. It remains to be seen if that is in America, on the Horn v Mundine card or somewhere else.

Sydney Boxing is hopelessly Rugby and League obsessed. There are so many
talented fighter who never get a chance to fight before a big audience.
Sonny Bill Williams is fighting in Sydney Dec 1 and announcement will be
made at news conference Auckland Sept 18.
Looks like John Hopate will be fighting Paul Gallen Nov 10 but a least its a
decent undercard with Damien Hooper and Kye Mackenzie fighting not like
the SBW card which will be supported by sport stars fighting.
The Horn vs Mundine card lion share of the takings will be for them so little
left over for undercard fighters. Hopefully Glen Rushton trained fighters like
Joe Goodall and Liam Paro get a chance to fight.
Tim Tszyu manager has said Tim has offers on the table to fight overseas in
USA and Russia. And that Tim has committed to a gruelling fight schedule
since turning pro and has fought 11 x in 19 mths and another fight in Nov.

I think pathetic is not strong enough when describing Tszyu's opponents.
    Tim Tszyu. Last 4 opponents.
    Webster.... rated 484.
    Siwu.........rated 411.
    Ferdinandus rated 478.
    Cornejo.....rated 367.
I have no idea if Tszyu is any good or not and reserve my judgement until he meets a boxer ranked at least under
    100.

I agree with you about Ryan, Webster and Siwu, they were the appropriate fights at that stage of Tim’s career. However, the next two fights were a bit confusing in terms of why the opponents were selected. Sure Cornejo gave it his all, he doesn’t quit from what I’ve seen before, but he’s quite terrible and has a completely padded record built on fights commissioned by the Argentine World Pugilism Commission, which is quite possibly the biggest sanctioning-body for rumored fixed fights and dives. I get that he was trying to stay active so he does get a slight pass for that, but no more backwards steps with opponents for a few fights at least. Next time it needs to be a step up from Siwu.

Don't forget the second Indonesian Tszyu fought was a late replacement for Sam Colomban who pulled out injured.

As for last weekend's opponent, he was good enough for Tszyu to headline a telecast live into the United States.

That must be the first time in history an event (let alone a sporting event) has been televised from Bendigo live into the US.

We're all keen to see Tszyu take on some of the names mentioned on this thread but they need to be careful with him.

He's a guy with 30 domestic amateur fights to his name, so by necessity, they're going to have to take it slow.

True. I was happy as hell they picked it up here in the states lol. It was even crazier when I found out there wasn’t a domestic broadcast available. Maloney was the real star of that broadcast though. Hell of a performance from him. Looking forward to the other brother’s WBSS fight.

You’re right that they do need to careful with him as he is a bit green, but from the time that he got knocked down to now, he’s improved so dramatically that I think he’s ready for that next step. Maybe the next fight would be too soon considering how active he’s been but I would still prefer if they did step him up next fight before the end of the year
