Wow. Huge news if it happens. Massive test for Justis. Love boxing in this country right now. Compare who Huni's facing (& has already faced for that matter) to the H/W rubbish that was served up in America on the weekend. And they wonder why the sport is in decline over there.

Good fight if it happens I wouldn't be surprised to see Breidis shatter some Queensland glass in this one

Real good fight. The credibility of Australian boxing goes on the line over the next five months. All of our guys will be big underdogs (well, maybe not Huni) but I reckon we will register a few wins.

16 Oct - George v Haney for the Undisputed Lightweight Championship of the World
29 Oct - Justis Huni v Mairis Briedis - Presumably for a top 10 H/W world ranking with the IBF
12 Nov - Stevie Spark v Montana Love - For a top 10 world ranking at Light Welter
TBC - Michael Zerafa v the Brazilian who made the Olympic final for the IBF Middleweight world title
29 Jan - Timmy v Charlo for the Undisputed Light Middleweight Championship of the World

How many of those we win will determine what star rating Australian boxing deserves.

I'm predicting a 5-star rating for Australian boxing at the end of January.

The good thing is I give every Aussie a chance of winning these fights not like in the past where the Aussies were used as cannon fodder

I don’t think it’s a smart fight, Huni gets no credit IF he wins. Tough way to get experience

Way too soon for him. Breidis destroys him if it actually comes off.

Interesting Lonergan chose him for an opponent considering the amount of damage to his other charge. He himself said he wouldn't put Jai in with a beast like that again.

Huni's a much bigger unit. I see him being way too fast for the plodding Euro Cruiser in the early going. Briedis will be as far behind at the midway point as what he was against Jai. And remember Jai was coming in off hand surgery & inactivity. Huni's only had one fight in the last 12 months but he's coming in off three 10-rounders. If his chin is solid, Huni wins comfortably. Too big, too strong & most importantly of all, way too fast. Those bullish, physically strong Cruisers come back to the field when they move up to H/W. It's the faster more skilful ones that succeed when they move up.

Last time we sent that hyped-up Euro cruiser home without his belt. This time, he's going home without his trousers.

Not a fight I would have taken for Timbo at this point. But he wanted it & so did his team. A few more fights against world class opposition in America (which PBC seemed perfectly happy to get for him) seemed the way to go from my perspective. I guess if he performs well, those opportunities will exist irrespective of the outcome in this one. I think it's a small window for him to climb through to get the win but the kid's a winner so we'll see. I like the fact that they're going to do his training camp in Las Vegas rather than on the Gold Coast sparring with locals. That should ensure a big lift in his performance from the Terrell Gausha fight straight off the bat. Tszyu KO8 in an upset. And the NEW...

That Newcastle show has twenty fights on it. Must be an all-day affair or at least all-afternoon & then televised night.

October is looking stacked. Two shows confirmed (George for Undisputed on 16 Oct & Dennis Hogan for IBO on 8 Oct plus a very strong undercard) & another couple in the pipeline (Huni v Briedis on 29 Oct) & the DAZN show (Paro v Jarvis on 15 Oct).
