A solid undercard for DDP. Apart from Rohan Murdock fighting a Top 15 World rated fighter. Deanha Hobbs vs Baby Nansen and Trent Broadhurst , Daniel Russell , Jessica Retallack , Kyle Freiberg , Matt Casboult all opponent's TBA at this date. A decent scrap . This will see how WBA Michael Zerafa is really progressing. Anthony Fowler is 8 - 0 7 ko and Glasgow Gold Medalist CMW Games 2014. I'm giving up on Commonwealth titles if Zerafa heads over to the UK to drop his strap. Junior Middle is the best division in the country (Horndog will likely campaign there if he beats Mundine, Dennis Hogan is a mandatory for a world title, Tszyu is one of our best prospects & of course, there's Zerafa). What about defending the Commonwealth title here? Like, you know, against a fellow Australian? Or even a Kiwi (Bowyn Morgan would be a good opponent for any of our guys)? As it stands, Commonwealth titles are just second tier British titles whose sole purpose is elevating UK fighters in the world rankings. I guess the next level up from Australian title for our blokes is an alphabet body's international title. Or perhaps an alphabet body's regional strap followed by their international title. The Commonwealth belt is no longer relevant. It serves no purpose in advancing the cause of our fighters.
Courageous performances from Bam Bam and Jason. WBO no 3 at Kye Frenzy Mackenzie LW has been added to the Horn vs Mundine card. Frenzy is fighting Billel Dib. Good to see Demsey keeping active on a great card at Southport. This content is protected
Demsey McKean has been doing a number on those old timers. First Oganov, now Izonritei. I appreciate he's been out injured & perhaps wants to ease himself back into it, but I hope these fights are a prelude to taking on a live opponent like Joe Goodall, Jason Whateley or Willis Meehan in the first half of next year. I thought Jason Moloney boxed very well. I wasn't surprised at all that the official scorecards were a lot closer than the commentators had it. How you scored that fight really depends on your approach to scoring. Ftr, I thought Jason outworked Rodriguez in the majority of rounds contested (and not just at the back end of the fight).
Maloney fought very well it was a good performance in a losing effort. It is always hard to gauge where the smaller guys are at on there way to a title fight but Maloney proved he is world class an has a lot of dog in him. Probably better he didn't get the win he doesn't need to be fighting the monster Inoue.
Really impressed by Moloney's effort. He showed tremendous cardio in the closing stages of the fight. He also showed he has a great chin. I still scored it for Manny although he gassed badly from 9 on. All in all, a very close fight.
I want Demsey to fight Japan Kyotaro Fujimoto. He defeated 6 Aussie's in a row !!! He is though vulnerable and carefully selects his opponents and is the Anthony Yarde of South East Asia. He is only 6' 0 and was tko by Solomon Haumono in 2012. And more importantly he has a WBO no 7 ranking. Let's hope Jai Opetia Belgium opponent in Dec is no where near as talented as Bam Bam Armenian opponent. As i mentioned before CW is seriously stacked with Eastern European CW. Jason Maloney so impressive in WBSS . The question is how good is his twin brother Andrew who is rated WBO no 4 at 115 lbs ? Aus Boxing Update Cronulla WW Jack Brubaker has signed with MTK Global, Coomera MW Ben Mahoney 5 - 0 2 ko has been added to Horn vs Mundine undercard. Zac Dunn vs USA Bo Gibbs Jr Nov 17 for vacant WBA Oceania SMW title left vacant by Bilal Akkaway who now campaigns in the USA. The winner has been mandated to fight Mornington Jayden Mitchell. Jayden fights Denmark Kim Poulsen Dec 14. This looks likely to go ahead maybe next March as both are Melburnians and are world rated and seems inevitable they will clash according to reports if both win there respective fights. Bilal Akkaway back to work. Once again he is chief sparring partner for Canelo as he prepares for SMW debut Dec 15. Lets hope Bilal can have another fight in the USA. This would be a great addition to Horn vs Mundine undercard. This content is protected This content is protected
Fox Sports continues a vast improvement in boxing coverage. Live Sun Nov 11 Channel 505 from 5.00 AEDT. I have always wanted to see Usyk live. This content is protected China Southpaw Qingjirumu coming for our Aust Champ hard hitting Steven Sparks 6 - 1 6 ko Nov 3 Rumours International for WBO Asia Pacific Title. Sakio Bikka date fight announcement coming soon. Luke Jackson date fight announcement coming soon. Steven Spark Title fight cancelled after Chinese opponent visa denied. Japan Taisho Ozawa steps in. Title no longer on line. Aus CW division heats up . 2016 Olympian and CMW Gold Coast HW Silver medalist Jason Whately has put the Aust CW on notice. Another HW for Aust HW to look foward to fight is Kiwi Junior Fa. He is returning to fight on Auckland Dec 15 to fight on Joshua Parker undercard. And more importantly he has a WBO no 10 ranking. A bit of history between Joe Goodall and Willie Meehan. Its was a young Joe who caused a huge upset and defeated Meehan for CMW Games spot for Glasgow. Meehan then stopped boxing to pursue a ill fated NRL career. George Kambosos Jr returns for break in Sydney. I backed TJ Doheny to become Aust next world champion. I will do the same with Ferocious 100 % !! This content is protected
I miss the old Mundine. He's never smiling or having fun anymore. He always seems worn out, camps have been disorganized for years, pissed off about numerous things. Makes things political just to be outspoken because he thinks he has to be. He needs to go back to being genuinely confident, happy and excited to fight. Mundine is literally the reason I was drawn to boxing. He's all I knew growing up in Australia. No matter which way the fight goes, I hope when it's all said and done, he's at peace with everything and is proud of his career with a smile on his face. He's a true legend. He really is.
Joe Goodall v Willis Meehan would be a decent scrap. But I thought Goodall was facing Solomon Haumono next? Interesting that Juppity thinks George Kambosos Jr is our next world champ. I'd go for Andrew Moloney myself. I liked what I saw in his last start.
Goodall is still slated to fight Haumono on Horn vs Mundine undercard. Moree WW and London Olympian Cammeron Hammond and many feel is one of Aust most talented fighters and so far unfulfilled career has been added to Suncorp Nov 30 undercard. The Usyk vs Bellow fight which is to be shown on Fox Sports undercard looks decent. Anthony Crolla vs David Yordan for CMW and WBA International Title LW. Joe Cordina vs Scott Cradle for CMW & WBA International Title LW WW Josh Kelly vs opponent tba. Non Title fight. This content is protected I don't deny many two fav local fighters are Ferocious and Jai Opetia. I will stand by my dec to back him even though the best P4P fighter Lomachenko dominate's the division and will add WBA Title to his CV in Dec & the other Champ is 4 x divison champ Mikey Garcia. But both have greener pasture's to chase and most likely will move up divisions. The title 's will become vacant and Ferocious will hopefully be in line to fight for one of them. Awesome performance by Andrew Maloney but the 118 lb Title's will be on hold while the WBSS is on . The most likely winner the Monster is a fighting machine. Cheeky May is chance for title and Jai need 's more exp in division with incredibly depth. This content is protected
Andrew Moloney is a junior bantam & is still undefeated. Jason is the bantam. The former is my tip to be our next world champ. Jason fought very well in losing a split decision & is likely to come again but as you point out, that will take time given the current state of the division. Glad to see Zerafa isn't taking his Commonwealth title overseas. If an overseas fighter wants to fight for it, let them come out here. Or better yet, defend it here against one of our junior middles or the Kiwi champ. No problem with Zerafa heading over to the UK to test his mettle but leave the Commonwealth belt here for our blokes to contest. Super Hooper & Junior Tszyu are my two favourite Australian fighters. Both very talented & have a bit of charisma about them.
