Harry Garside won his first fight, which was a quarter-final, at the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands. He beat Papua New Guinea's John Ume 5-0 points over 3 rounds.

No way Charlo fight happens. He's a coward. You don't pull out twice, vacate the division and then suddenly agree to fight.

    Smoke and mirrors.

Big day for Australian fighters at the Pacific Games. Harry Garside's compatriots Yusuf Chothia, Shannon Davey and Teremoana Teremoana tasted quarter-final success in the 51kg, 71kg and 92+kg divisions respectively. Can't wait to see the Australian Boxing Bling Box filled up in time for Christmas.

And you know why I'm mad? This is my Mickey Goldmill moment. Because he had the talent to become a good fighter. Instead he pissed it all away becoming a two bit nothing.

Extreme and not entirely true, it's a good line though. He should have progressed, but he's regressing. Robbed vs Horn 2 and that's changed his career. But he pulled out of the Tszyu fight and blew a massive opportunity. ****EN hell he's wasting his talent.

Still young, he looks after himself but wtf man. Needs to fight.

Michael Zerafa would have been IBF champ if he fought that Brazilian guy out here. It would have been a close thing, but Zerafa would have won. No question in my mind. Instead, he's waiting for the winner of a fight that is yet to take place between Erislandy Lara & Danny Garcia. Only problem with that (apart from the fact that it hasn't occurred yet) is that he's not the only one waiting on the outcome of that fight. Don't be surprised if King Timmy jumps to Middleweight & challenges for the WBA title after his next fight. Money talks & bs walks. The good news for Michael Zerafa is that we might see King Timmy make the first defence of his new title against him. Michael Zerafa has the same height & reach as the Kazakh who holds a couple of the Middleweight belts so King Timmy making a title defence against him makes sense.

His only income for the year would have been the stand aside money he claims he received.

Zerafa will be 32 in March and is wasting his prime time trying to play the conservative businessman.

Plenty of our fighters through to the final at the Pacific Games & Olympics selection. You have to win Gold to go. The big question I, & I'm sure many others have, is will the Australian Boxing Bling Box be big enough?

Callum Peters @ Light Heavy (fights tomorrow)
    Caitlin Parker @ Middleweight (tomorrow)
    Tyla McDonald @ Lightweight (tomorrow)
    Yusuf Chothia @ Flyweight (Saturday)
Harry Garside @ Light Welter (Saturday)
Shannan Davey @ Light Middle (Saturday)
    Tina Rahimi @ Featherweight (Saturday)
Teremoana Jr Teremoana @ Super Heavy (Saturday)

Update - apparently every member of the Australian Boxing Team at the Pacific Games has made the final. All 13 of them. We're definitely going to need a bigger Bling Box. Harry Garside, Tina Rahimi, Yusuf Chothia, Shannan Davey and Teremoana Teremoana all won their semi-final bouts yesterday in Honiara’s Friendship Hall, joining teammates Caitlin Parker, Monique Suraci, Tiana Echegaray, Marissa Williamson Pohlman, Tyla McDonald, Charlie Senior, Callum Peters and Adrian Paoletti in the finals.

I think we'll pick up some medals (plural) at the Olympics next year. It would be the first time that we've won more than one. The Holy Grail for Australian boxing is an Olympic Gold which we've never won. In the men's, I think Callum Peters & Teremoana Jr are our best chances of medals. The latter's chances of winning one go up exponentially if he gets drawn in the opposite half of the draw to Jalolov. In the women's, I think we'll get at least one. Caitlin Parker is the most likely but I also think some of the others could do very well.

Brock Jarvis is raring to go after multiple surgeries. Says Hardman has been calling him out and that he is more than happy to accommodate him.

Hardman really impressed me last week. I was pleasantly surprised. I like Jarvis straight off the bat but maybe I'm falling for the hype.

Hardman has put in two good performances recently.
