Harry hasn't fought since March having sustained a broken hand in the dual matches with Brazil. It will take a massive effort from him to medal in Paris. Teremoana is the shortest price of all our fighters to win gold but he'll need to overcome Jalolov in the quarter final. The best value for a gold for us in the men's is Callum Peters, I reckon. He's got a good draw that should take him all the way through to the final.

In the women's, our best chance for gold is Caitlin Parker. Women's Middleweight is actually quite a strong division with a heavily favoured Canadian & a decent Frenchwoman capable of pulling upsets at home. Parker has beaten both in the past. Monique Suraci has performed very well for us this year & has got better as the year has worn on. She must be some sort of chance of sneaking a medal.

Best of luck to our team & look forward to seeing them bring home some bling from Paris. We've won a grand total of five Olympic boxing medals in our history (2 silvers, 3 bronze) & no golds so there's a great opportunity for this team to make some history for us. I think it's the best prepared Olympic team we've sent to an Olympics. Let's hope that translates into medals.

Even with his far from perfect preparation, Garside is seeded 5.

We have 6 fighters seeded inside the top 5 in their respective divisions. Including Shannan Davey who is seeded 1 at 71kg.

All 12 of our fighters are seeded top 5. The winner of the Oceania qualifier was automatically awarded a top 5 seeding. Where things are bogus is that a gerrymander was applied so that the winners of the European, Asian & Americas Olympic qualifiers were automatically given 3 of the top 4 seeds. That means it was a coin toss between Oceania & Africa as to whether our fighters were seeded 5th or top 4. It doesn't really matter in most divisions but it does at Super Heavy where our best medal chance runs into the shortest priced favourite in the Olympics before the medal rounds. What is objectionable about that is based on results, he should have automatically received a top 4 seeding.

Not so. Lubin informed the IBF he is "medically unfit to fight" on the proposed date and a new opponent is being sought.

Yeah I see that. They’ll now go down the list of the latest IBF ratings and offer it to that boxer in order. See what happens.

Michael Zerafa is fighting 41 year old Tommy Browne - who's best was so long ago few even remember it - on Nikitia Tszyu's August 28th undercard.

Hearing Zerafa will have Glenn Rushton in his corner for what promises to be an absolute farce.

The draws have been done for the Olympics. Our two best men's medal chances are in tough first up. Teremoana faces a Ukrainian who beat him when he first joined the national amateur team 18 months ago. Callum Peters faces a Kazakh who happens to be the reigning world champion. Somehow he wasn't seeded. I mentioned above that Callum had a good draw. Scratch that. Very tough assignments for our boys first up. Things just got real!

I'm looking at the seedings & thinking okay, Callum Peters beats the brakes off these other guys he's going to be matched with. Then they roll out an unseeded Kazakh reigning world champion as his first opponent. Who does that?
