Yeah he is and I was surprised that he got dominated and stopped by Lewis Chadwick in his previous fight considering he had upset Joel Taylor before that. Maybe he was under prepared for that fight.
Ben Horn has just got that dog in him. He could be in the crowd for a big fight, hear about someone dropping out late around his weight and offer to jump in. What he lacks in technique he more than makes up for with heart. Maybe a little bit too much...
The court action in which Tasman Fighters was successful was for an interlocutory injunction - meaning Teremoana can't fight for another promoter until the substantive matters at issue in his contract with Tasman Fighters are decided at trial. Teremoana has signed a contract with Fast Eddie Hearn. The substantive question of whether Tasman Fighters fulfilled its contract with Teremoana has not been decided. He is injuncted from fighting for anyone else until it is. The full outcome of the hearing this week appears at the link: https://archive.sclqld.org.au/qjudgment/2024/QSC24-226.pdf
There's a couple of ways this ends. Firstly, Fast Eddie slings Tasman Fighters a bunch of cash which frees up Teremoana to fight in the UK. Secondly, the issue gets decided at trial. Teremoana can't afford to sit out 2025 & 2026 so any trial would need to occur expeditiously. If it goes to trial, Fast Eddie's promotional outfit, Matchroom, may be a party to the proceedings. That's where the tortious interference comes in. Contrary to media reports, that aspect wasn't dealt with in the application for interlocutory relief.
Mateo Tapia will be fighting Endry Saavedra on the Tim Tszyu Murtazaliev undercard. Saavedra stopped our man Issac Hardman early this year.
Fast Eddie Hearn on the lookout for a new power-hitting 6 foot 6 Super Heavy capable of rendering opponents unconscious with a single blow & with the potential of lifting the Lineal Heavyweight Crown (the real H/W Crown, not the alphabet versions AJ held). Anyone know where he can find one? Preferred chin quality - Australian steel.
Just saw Opetaia's face off with Massey. Opetaia was wearing one of those bucket hats Liam Paro gets around in. They seem to be becoming a fashion statement. Good luck to them but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one.
Tasman Fighters had another win during the week with the IBF granting Opetaia an exception to face Jack Massey. The winner must defend the belt against IBF mandatory Huesyin Cincara who is 22-0 (18 KO) by January 20. I'd suggest there's a good chance that this bout will happen in Australia if Opetaia's defence against Massey goes to plan.
Good fight. The Venezuelan can fight & punch. Good test for Tapia but I think he's up to it. A win could set up a world title shot against the Janibek v Mikhailovich winner. We might be seeing a bit of Middleweight world championship action down our way over the next 12 months. King Tim could end up campaigning there before too much longer. Micky Z in the mix as well.
Janibek Alimkhanuly plans to arrive in Sydney just 2 days before facing Andrei Mikhailovich in this Friday night's title fight at The Star. Alimkhanuly and his team are scheduled to arrive in Sydney at 6am Wednesday morning. Not exactly the ideal prep.
