Of those matchups I rekon Fa would be far too much for Mckean. The last time I saw Mckean was vs Oganov and he didnt look too great. Kinda a Gary Cornish level. Parker would knock Browne into next week if you ask me but i'd still be keen to watch it. Havnt seen much of Opetaia but from what Ive heard he'd be too much for Light. Hell, I even think Light vs Mark Flanagan is no given for Light and I'm even leaning towards a Flanagan upset. Bowyn Morgan was blasting guys out til he came up against Kris George. He knocked George down heavily early on and it look like it'd be an easy night for Morgan but he got stopped himself in that fight due to inexperience. I'd like to see a George Morgan rematch to be honest before he takes on someone with the pedigree in Tim Tszyu. Hemi Ahio should target the aussie heavys for Australasian supremacy . I think Fa is a little past that point as he is wbo 12 or something. Ahio vs Mckean would be good for Ahio, he does ok vs the taller fellas. Tej Singh vs Mikhailovich would be a good fight.

Fa would likely have too much, but in terms of a step up fight along the lines I mentioned earlier it's a logical choice. McKean isn't ready for a Commonwealth title tilt against Joe Joyce. I would also like to see McKean defend his Australian title against the likes of Willis Meehan & Joe Goodall but neither of those fights appears to be in the wind either. If he wants to step up against a name h/w, Junior Fa is his man. I'd like to see Ahio become NZ champ before he gets to fight the Australian champ. When that happens, yeah sure, bring it on.

If Joe Parker v Lucas Browne ever got made, they could put it on the undercard. I'd take both Kiwis by kayo in those fights but you've got to be in it to win.

There's obviously some money in Kiwi boxing b/c Mark Flanagan really ought to have been matched with Jai Opetaia. Money is the only reason I can think of why that fight hasn't happened. If Flanagan beats Light, perhaps it still can. If Light wins, perhaps Opetaia can consider a trip to NZ. If he can go to Belgium to fight, I don't see why he can't go to NZ. Opetaia to win for mine but Light would certainly be a worthy opponent. Which is kind of the whole point of these fights. Finding worthy local opponents for our best fighters.

Tim Tszyu is my favourite so I'd back him to win but I suspect Bowyn Morgan is a bit like the NZ cricket team - a hell of a lot tougher to beat in NZ than elsewhere. I don't think there's any disgrace in losing to Kris George. He's underrated & made it to Commonwealth champ.

The fights at M/W I really couldn't say with certainty who would win any of them (which suggests to me they are all good match-ups). Whoever takes the Australasian title would be worthy of fights at a higher level. So might other guys depending on how they fare.

Aust LW Champ Jacob Ng fights on March 16 at Southport Sharks for the vacant IBF Youth Title and his opponent is 23 yr old Filipino Glenn Enterina 14 - 4 -1 9 ko. A win would hopefully give Ng a world ranking. This kid has a Muay Thai background and definitely one to put in the black book.
Undercard includes the Aust CW Champ Ben Kelleher vs Uria Afamasagu.

Whenever the Australian boxing scene has been strong it just adds greatly to the world of boxing , The Sandman is correct also regarding his post reference the Australian title as these historic titles should be held up in a lot higher regard and prestige than they currently are lads .

    * DDP Promoter and manager Paul Keegan has taken advantage of Dennis Hogan being mandatory contender for the WBO Champ Jamie Munguia. He might not being able to bring the fight to the Gold Coast but he has ensured that there are three neutral judges and a neutral referee for their Monterrey clash. And also he has being to extract a career best payday from Oscar De LA Hoya of $ 500 000.
Hogan will base himself in Dallas Texas , three weeks before the fight. He will fight and train out of the gym used by IBF WW Champ Errol Spence Jr.
Promotion in Mexico for the fight has started.

    * Aust HW Champ has being sparring with Alex Leapai as he prepares for March 16 Int non title fight at Southport Sharks March 16.
    * Some updated Aust World Boxing rankings.
LW George Kambosos Jr now IBF no 6.
WW Cameron Hammond now WBA no 11.
JMW Michael Zerafa now WBA no 12.

Smart move by Dennis Hogan getting over there 3 weeks in advance. Pretty sure Spence's gym is also the Charlo's gym so he may be able to finish off his preparation by sparring one of them. Texas used to be Mexico once upon a time so the location & timing sound pretty good to me.

Congrats to Lovemore Ndou for being inducted into the Australian boxing hall of fame. Well deserved, indeed. He fought many of the best fighters in the game & was never stopped inside the distance. That's an astonishing record when you consider who he faced & how long his career was.

I saw Lovemore fight live when he won the interim IBF Junior Welter title against Naoufel Ben Rabah. He was subsequently upgraded to full IBF champion status & joined a select group of Australian fighters who have been IBF world champions.
