    * The Hornet management has scrapped plans for a home fight against WBA MW Champ Rob Brant. and will instead head overseas., likely a UK clash for a bout at the beginning of June. The Hornet trainer Glen Rushton said a fight against Bryant was off the cards, with the Hornet now set to campaign at MW just weeks before the birth of his second baby with wife Jo.
Rushton " The Bryant fight is happening. We're got another fight , a big fight although its not a world title. We hope it would lead us to a world title in the next fight after that. It will be offshore , we're agreed on terms , we're trying to get this fight for June 2. That's the date we want. The other date was in July, but baby o' clock for them is June 20. "
If Horn doesn't fight in June he said because of the expected birth of second child he we take a extended break and will not be available to fight again to Nov.
    * The Scorpion fight against Lionell Thompson has being cancelled because Bika failed the medical.
    * Peach Boxing is putting up the bucks for this big Tasman clash and if their fighter wins lets hope they do for a Opetia clash if their fighter wins. David Light vs Bam Bam.

Wonder who Horndog is fighting? The Pommies have got plenty of good middleweights. I think it's for the best that the Rob Brant fight is off the table for now. Horn would not have won coming in off 96-seconds of action following the Crawford debacle. Get a decent win & some rounds under his belt & then do a world title fight. Kell Brook as an opponent would make the most sense. It would pay well & is winnable.

Sad to hear Sakio failed his medical. He's had a nearly 20-year pro career in the toughest caper of them all. He & Anthony Mundine should fight each other & then both give it away. Permanently.

I hope we see Jai Opetaia in with Mark Flanagan next even if he loses against the Kiwi. Then go after the Kiwi.

I watched the stream of Daniel Lewis' pro debut & Jason Whateley last night. Both looked really good in scoring second round kayos. Definitely two to follow. The promoter in Melbourne was Will Tomlinson. A good start for him also. Having at least a couple of guys on the promotion that people want to see is the basis for a good show (imo).

I really don't know who to pick out of Light and Flannagan. It's a massive step up for Light and I have concerns about his defence as he goes back in straight lines and has been rocked by a couple of these low level fighters that he has faced.

Your bloke looks ready for a step-up fight to me. He's got some solid credentials - a Commonwealth games silver medalist & undefeated as a pro. If he wins, I think he's entitled to be considered the preeminent cruiser in the region. Beating Flanagan will be a bigger win than anything anyone else has posted.

Although I was never in favour of it, it's a pity Jai Opetaia's fight in Europe fell through b/c if he'd won, matching up he & the winner of this fight would make a lot of sense.

Usyk is about to depart cruiser so there will be opportunities galore for guys who are well positioned in the rankings.

I saw another good cruiser prospect last night in Jason Whateley, also a Cth games silver medalist. He'll be in the domestic mix before too much longer.

Between Light, Opetaia & Whateley, we ought to be able to produce someone who is worthy of fighting for a world title at cruiser. They really ought to fight each other to sort out who it's going to be.

It certainly would be great if Light gets up as the more prospects we have down in this part of the world the better. Nyika however is our best prospect and should turn pro after the olympics.

Hope to see Opetaia back in the ring soon as this non fight has stalled his career for the time being. In saying that, the future looks bright at CW down in this part of the world.

A few further thoughts on Andrew Moloney's situation following his performance yesterday.

While he's now the WBA "mandatory", the current WBA mandatory in that division is yet to get his title shot. I think that fight occurs on 1 June.

That may mean Moloney doesn't get his own title shot for quite a while.

Having scored two kayo wins from his last two starts against world class opposition, they need to ensure he stays sharp between now & when that opportunity presents itself.

The best case scenario is that he gets to fight the winner of the 1 June fight in which case Moloney probably won't need another fight before then.

I think they should consider making the champ an offer he can't refuse to defend in Australia once the winner of the fight in June is known. Putting the fight on here also gives him the best chance of winning it.

Moloney should also make himself available to challenge one of the other world champs should the opportunity arise. He will likely move up the rankings of the other sanctioning bodies as a consequence of his performance yesterday.

If they can't lock in a title shot for the second half of the year, they need to make sure he stays sharp by taking a fight or two against respectable opposition. Not pushovers.

    * Aus LW Title is vacant as Jacob Ng now holds the IBF Youth Title and by rules you can't hold both. I would like to see Sandgroper Francis Chua fight Brent Rice for the Title.
    * The Scorpion fight was cancelled because a MRI scan revealed a neck injury. Bika plans to continue fighting.
    * Billel Dib WBA no 9 is targeting a fight with WBA Champ Andrew Cancio 130 lbs. Last fight Dib def Bruno Vifuaviwii who last fight defeated Joel Brunker. Dib on March 30 fights Rey Juntilla at Seagull RL Club.
    * Updated WBO rankings. The Prodigy is now no 3 at 140 lbs and his next opponent unbeaten Turkish Olympian Faith Kelev has dropped to no 12.
    * Darragh Foley , Aaron Lai and Richie Vaculik won their fights Fri night at East RL Club.
    * Will Tomlinson first fight night ( Wild Fighter ) was a success. Will shows are heading in the right direction by building up his fighters by streaming it live on Facebook. Aust Wrestling circuit has built a cult following and made a revival by using this same strategy. Other fight promoters please take note.

    * Tim Tszyu has stated he has a big announcement this week. Would be most likely he will confirm he is signing with Top Rank.
    * IBF no 12 Dwight Ritchie will fight South Korean Champ Jung Hoon Yang Springvale Melb April 27. A good domestic clash for the Cowboy would be Michael Zerafa or Jamie Weetch who returns Perth May 3.
    * It seems a change of plans for Dennis Hogan. Hogan is now basing himself in LA at the Churchill Boxing Club for the next 2 and half weeks before his World Title Fight.
    * The April Fox Boxing schedule has not come out yet. April 20 is big fight day and i'm hoping they show both the Lucas Browne fight and Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan. If only DAZN would start streaming in Aust i would definitely sign up.
