Liam Wilson vs Montilla? Take one look at Montilla's record and you will see this for the farce that it is. Likewise Paulo vs Dixon. Perhaps an even worse mismatch than Wilson's. Both fights an absolute waste of time.
Actually, scratch that - was led to believe it's on PPV down there, but - not even on the calendar? https://ppv.livecombatsports.com.au/?cat_id=0
As previous, the IBF have mandated Jai Opetaia versus his mandatory challenger, Huseyin Cinkara. Mick Francis, Opetaia's manager and co-promoter, says they are aiming at staging Opetaia-Cinkara in Australia, while Cinkara is said to be preferring for the fight to take place in Turkey. Yeah, fat chance of that!
Skye Nicholson looked like a completely different animal this time around. Granted she was fighting a small statue, 122 pound opponent who was less than stellar, but Skye sat down on her punches and was all business from the moment the referee gave them their instructions. Assuming Skye remains at 122 pounds, Nicholson-Scotney will surely be the medium to long term goal.
Yeah, was a good win for Jake. Although I thought it was much closer than some of the judges had scored as 8-2, I thought 7-3, or maybe even 6-4 to Wyllie.
Lucas Browne has signed a multi-fight deal with a bare knuckles outfit called BYB Extreme Fighting who hold their matches triangular shaped rings. The triangular shaped ring sounds like different just for the sake of being different. But it might help ensure more toe to toe stuff and less dancing around?
Starting to think we will never see Opetaia-Ramirez. With Ramirez having undergone shoulder surgery, the WBO have called for a fight between Ramirez's #1 and #2 challengers, Billam-Smith and Fress, for the Interim WBO title. All I can see this doing is putting another barrier between Ramirez and Opetaia because when Ramirez finally returns, the WBO will probably throw the winner of Billam-Smith and Fress at him. Meaning Opetaia would be waiting for an eternity for a crack at Ramirez. Perhaps Ramirez's other belt, the WBA, will present Opetaia with a more direct route to him? But I doubt it.
Ng hasn't fought since he pulled the wrestling move on Billy Dib, three and half years ago. Wilson and Aokuso both matched with opponents they should toy with.
