And Stifflers would have bought it bless him , RIP , ,,the bell end would have denied it but rest assured both of us bought shite PPVs at the height of our addiction LMFAO
A pretty niche sport down here these days IB. To make money you have to appeal to the Bogan market . You either do well as the heel that people want to see flogged like Mundine did...or the fake knockabout bloke like Danny Greens or Jeff Horns.
He seems a real talent but should have played rugby league for a few year first so he has that novelty casual attraction.
They should do a prize fighter like night and drag out all the old flogs like Mundine, Green, Soliman, Geales make it PPV with Paul Gallen v Justin Hodges and whatever other NRL bums want to have a go Foxtel Main Event will clean up.
The sad thing is is that it's the only way to get people interested in boxing in our part of the world is to have these league players fighting on these cards. I went to the Parker v Flores card last year and the crowd only really showed interest in 2 fights - the Parker fight of course and Manu Vatuvei fighting the Brown Buttabean.
It's Tool Time on 15 May! Midnite Prowler will be there with his power drill & Franga might even turn up with his jack-hammer. This looks like a really good domestic promotion. I've been critical of Foxtel's unwillingness to support young Australian talent but I think they are delivering with this one. I can understand people being unhappy that it's PPV but let's be realistic. The money simply isn't there to pay guys decent purses & get good matches made unless it's PPV. For that reason, I'll be supporting it. Jack Brubaker v Cameron Hammond is a really well matched fight. It's a genuine 50/50 - the kind the sport in this country desperately needs but we rarely get to see. Whoever gets it right on the night takes it. I think Brubaker has been the more consistent of the two so I lean towards him winning. I also think though that Hammond has a few extra gears that could see him prevail if he is able to engage them. Really good fight. Junior Tszyu v Joel Camilleri is a good Australian title fight. Camilleri was dominant in winning the Australian title & has never been stopped inside the distance. Really glad to see Jai Opetaia on the promotion. This is where he needs to be. Fighting in Australia as the house fighter. Not chasing rainbows over in Europe. It remains to be seen who he gets matched with but hopefully this is the first of several appearances by him on these type of shows. He's very talented & deserves an opportunity to fulfil that talent.
IF the Prowler sorts out the corporate complimentary side of the evening Fab Francis will attend for sure .
I was very angry after the last fight night I was there for, the Aussie Jack Brubaker was awarded a decision over UK's Tyrone Nurse. Nurse dominated the fight there is noway Brubaker won more than two or three rounds. There was pretty much silence for a few minutes after the decision was announced, even Brubaker was a bit shocked before he celebrated.
Btw lads how's everyone seeing the Khan v Bud fight going ? Crawford is elite, Khan could be getting kipped here ...late .
Bud should get him no problem JW...only question mark is that Crawdaddy isn't a massive puncher at the weight, perhaps not quite big enough to crack dat glass. So the fight might be somewhat prolonged with some close rounds.
