Guessed this one days ago : Opetaia Targets Glanton For Zuffa Boxing Debut "According to reports, American contender Brandon Glanton is the frontrunner to challenge Jai Opetaia in the champion’s inaugural appearance under the Zuffa Boxing banner." Perhaps they are referring to my reports?
CW needs some new blood and excitement, it seems Jai has ended the aspirations of most of the up and comers, or cannon fodder (depending on perspective). Glanton will be the latest challenger to leave the arena in an ambulance, then surely it has to be the other CW belt holders? Mikaelian and Benavidez have said yes, though Ramirez is still trying to work out who Jai is, and he has been punched in the head a lot, so it's understandable.
No Limit Boxing has won the promotional rights to Lewis Crocker’s mandatory IBF welterweight title defense versus Liam Paro. No Limit submitted a winning bid of $1,152,000, beating Matchroom Boxing’s $1,125,000. Under IBF rules, Crocker will get 65 per cent ($748,800) as the defending titleholder and Paro the remaining 35 per cent ($403,200), as the mandatory challenger. The fight must take place within 90 days of Tuesday’s hearing.
Paro seems to be confirming the fight will be held in Oz : “I never got the chance as a world champion to defend a title on home soil, so to now fight for another world title in Australia is something special.” “No Limit Boxing went to work and delivered this. They backed me, they believed in me, and now we get to do this in front of Australian fans.”
Skye Nicolson will headline a Matchroom Boxing show in Australia, in April. It will be the first of 8 Matchroom are doing in Oz, in conjunction with Fox Sports.
