Pretty sure a samoan bagged it. And a bloke from PNG got the the 48kg spot.

The Papuans seem to go alright in the lighter weights.

Australia should be pretty happy with the system they have now, it is seriously in their favour. But on the other hand the rigours of the european and pan american competition really have the fighters from those regions prepared.

It is very good for the Aussies but I suppose the idea is that you get representation from all around the world and they'd struggle to go below 1 boxer per weightclass.

Frankie Gavin would have to be a fave for the gold medal.

    He bagged the gold.

He would be up there though I think Ugas is would probably be the favourite. He didnt compete in the last world championships.

Tishchenko cant be counted out and I have a feeling Song-Guk will get a better treatment if you know what I mean. Add that to the fact he is an exceptional boxer I might put a bit of coin on him to bag the gold.

Can someone plz explain the system of how boxers qualify for the olympics.....

as far as i know it wasthat every country had the right to choose 1 boxer per division and they set there own standards for qualifying like if a boxer does well at the australian championship they get into the team or something like that....

whats the go with this talk of only 1 person per region or something like that??

Its all in the wikipedia link someone posted earlier. It basically depends what continent you are on. There is one spot for each weight class out of all of Oceana. There was an Oceanic competition, and OZ took all but 2 of the places with 1 to NZ and 1 to PNG I think.

Also, off memory so don't quote me verbatim but if at that years worlds you either finish top 8 from 48kg to 81kg, or top 4 for 91kg and 91+ you automatically qualify for a spot at the Olympics.

His name is Navi Cagiloaloa. He's either a crusier or heavy. Not a big bloke though.
