AA is horrid and I'm not sure he can beat anyone that has anything of note in the tank. He's literally ****...you've essentially seen him shut out (outside of maybe 4 rounds total in three fights) in his last three fights. I would pick Pavlik, but it's a toss up, based on questions about what KP has left in the tank.

So? Abraham fought decent competition AFTER he moved to 168, and he got his ass kicked every time. Now he claims these guys are to big for him and says he wants to go back down to 160.

Kelly has proven time and time again that he can handle the higher weight.

The thread title says Pavlik/Abraham "Needs to be made." Why?

How does a win over a middleweight who got his ears boxed off 3 times benefit Pavlik's comeback? What the **** is your point?

Agreed, this is the only meaningful fight for Abraham at 168 that he has a good chance of winning. Good boxers who mix things up appears to be his Achilles heel. Pavlik will be there for the wild punches to land, however he poses some challenges in the cardio dept as well as reach.

two of the world's worst trainers collide in a matchup between two fighters who cannot even adjust their pants let alone anything in the ring.

The only fighter of note Pavlik has beaten north of 160 is Jermain Taylor — same as Abraham.

This would be a good fight for both men, possibly late this year or early 2012. Neither of these guys needs to be in there against fighters who can move and give angles — they are both cumbersome even on their best day — and there's some history here dating back to their time at 160.

Abraham said after the fight last night that he's going to remain at 168. I don't think he can make 160 any longer. Same with Pavlik, who certainly has no cause to move up to 175.

Who's a better, realistic opponent for Pavlik? He should be able to defeat Abraham, imo, and that would give him a nice payday and confidence building going into a Bute fight. If Kelly thinks he's ready for one of the big guns at 168, he's quite mistaken. Tuneup, Abraham and then a top guy. That's the best plan for him.

This fight really doesn't NEED to be made at this point. It should have been made a few years ago. It has the difficult selling points of Pavlik trying to make a comeback of sorts and Abraham being 2-3 in his last 5 fights suffering 3 absolute beatings.

It should be clear that Pavlik almost certainly beats him and I'm a fan of AA's. But if he insists on being a standing target with his guard up right in front of a guy who's taller, has a longer reach, fights well at a certain range, is stronger than him, etc.....it doesn't end well for AA.

AA is still good enough to be a top 4-5 guy at middleweight if he's able to get back down there, but as it should have come to light by now, if he keeps fighting with this style he only has a puncher's chance against Pavlik.

I thin at this moment it's the right fight for both of them !! There's also a symbolic side in this fight. Let's do it :happy:happy:happy

The point is he fought better competition even though he lost. Pavlik wouldn't do so well against ward-froch and dirrell either. With the exception of froch, ward and dirrell would be a nightmare match up for pavlik.

I could see him going 0-3 against these 3. Pavlik hasn't look good lately even in his last fight on may 7 he look terrible. That pavlik would have gotten beat by andre ward too.

Again abraham is fighting better competition. Yes he went 0-3 but those 3 are one the best super middleweight today.

Sure, but AA is a well known name, would be a good fight for Kelly! Kelly is ready for AA, but not Ward, froch, Bute, Dirrell.. If he fights AA, and wins, and Looks good doing it, then go after Steglitz, or BUTE

You're still not making any kind of meaningful point. Darryl's thread title said this fight "Needs to be made." Why? How in the world does Pavlik benefit from beating the living **** out of AA? How much credit would he actually get? How would that change your own **** eyed perception? You and nearly all others would say; "Oh well, Pavlik beat a bum who was already exposed 3 times. He can't beat anybody decent." A Pavlik/Abraham fight would not change anything, and therefore, it does not "need to be made."

I'm all for it. Taking Abraham's recent performances into account, Pavlik should be the favourite. This said: it would be great if the King could actually show us a last good performance and knock Pavlik the **** out :)
