I thought it was nothing less than thrilling. Edge of the seat stuff. I loved it.

If you want have a bit of a laugh though, CHJ said Calzaghe would land more punches on Hopkins than he did Bika and Bika would land more punches on Calzaghe than Hopkins did, both were factual.

Now how do you figure that? He starts slow as hell, then brutalises Taylor down the stretch and lands more overall punches in the process, should have recieved the decision also.

I would disagree with you. If anything, Hopkins was too good in spoiling the fight and making Calzaghe look bad. Maybe his stamina was worse than ever...I cannot argue with that, but tactically, he put in a very good performance; it just wasn't positive enough to deserve much praise. In fact, because of all the stunts, it was a digrace.

Calzaghe's performance was poor not so much because he had declined physically but because he was tactically naive and he wasn't adapting fast enough, even when he was being told precisely what do to by his dad in the corner! In some ways, his peformance makes me think he was never quite as good as I thought he was. He should have done much better. Hopkins was allowed to have his way with him far too much and the only thing Calzaghe was doing was saying "he's cheating!" in the corner. Well, as Enzo said:" **** what HE's doing!" What are YOU doing!?"

Overrated or not, it was a poor performance by Calzaghe.

**** off, McGrain, why don't you!

I'm not trying to make Calzaghe look better. I am very critical of the fighters I support.

    Slow started scuppered him.

Horrible mis-calculation. I thought his fight plan against Calzaghe was good, I thought he came close to pulling it off. Unlike you with your 18 point gap or whatever it was, I had it to Joe by a point.

McGrain's been a bit of a pest lately, can't come to terms that Calzaghe is working his way to the top 50 ATG, maybe even the top 15 depending and he's become the anti-Joe train himself.

    Yes, CHJ is right, again.

The way Hopkins fought, I would not be surprised to see Bika get the better of him. Not only would he have slung more dirt back at Hopkins big time, but he would have attacked him so aggressively that he would definitely have landed more effective punches on Hopkins than even Calzaghe did.

Well from my point of view, that just shows that I should go over the criteria in which fights are scored with you.

Bika is not skilled enough here, he'd get dropped multiple times from right hands and does not operate on this level. Hopkins wouldn't get tired either, the pace would be slow.

    I apologise.

From now on I will put down your hopelessly inaccurate appraisal of this fight to stupidity.

McGrain doesn't know boxing if he thought Calzaghe went in the right way about that fight, tactically.

I don't care about ATG lists...don't know enough boxing history, but Calzaghe went down in my esteem after the Hopkins fight. I expected him to fight better, tactically.

    I would welcome that.

Gonna sit in with the people at Setanta, The BBC and ESPN too?

    What inaccurate appraisal?:huh

Hopkins did very well for the first couple of rounds, then started cheating more and more, spoiling and killing the fight, and Calzaghe couldn't adjust to Hopkin's distance, footwork and change of pace until close to the end. What's inaccurate about that.:huh

Part of the problem is he could have came in there thinking the old man would be no trouble at all and then the flash KD happened, I really don't think he was the slightest bit nervy about Hopkins like he was in his other signature performances where he showed tactical brilliance.
