Terry Norris was disquallifed three times in his career, and almost so a handful of times as well. Two of these losses were back to back ones.
He most certainly did not have the most, but Trinidad could have never taken those fights with Winky and Roy and nobody would have complained about it.
Jack Sharkey and Max Baer deserve dishonourable mention. Golotta basicaly blew two title fights that were in the bag and got robbed on another two.
Aaron Pryor comes to mind here too... One loss after a two and a half year layoff. Even then he got screwed by the count, Chuvalo/Quarry style.
Lazy heavyweights from the 80's, Greg Page, Witherspoon and some others could have easily halved their losses IMO, but that's boxing.
Lazy fighters in general really. For example a tip top Toney would have never lost to Griffin, Thadzi or Tiberi (**** the judges, he lost that fight).
Vlad's 3 loses where all avoidable, he came in vs Puruty at a very low weight and instead of 10 rds made it 12 (DUMB vs Durable Ross)...Next was fighting Sanders (overconfident) and walking into the ring Cold as Ice...Not fighting Brewster but the way he tried to walk through the never down(before Vlad) Lamon and shot his load...I think these were fights he should have won...If Vlad did his own managing for those fights he FCKD UP
I'm actually going to chime in again and say both Lewis losses could have been avoided. His sparring partners and preparation for the McCall fight were terrible irregardless of McCall going thru some structural weaknesses in defense.
You beat me to it, JT1! If Lennox had prepared for these fights as he should've, and had been on the ball, then he would be alongside Rocky Marciano in being undefeated. He could have easily beaten both men the first time around, as he proved in the rematches. Lewis would be a true legend today if he had avoided those two losses, as he could have.
Willie Pep held a grudge against Sammy the Clutch who was the only taint on his record for many years. Angott had the right style to ruin Pep's boxing, and Pep's people should have left him alone.
Well the good thing is that he beat both in rematches which goes a long way toward covering the losses. Steward himself says he knew Lewis wasn't properly prepared for the match.
If John Tate had been a bit more cautious in the closing moments against Mike Weaver and kept his distance, he might have taken the win.
