Avoided Perez ready to gate crash the heavyweight party- great interview with his manager- says Tyson Fury and David Price have both turned down fights with him http://www.irish-boxing.com/2012/11/avoided-perez-ready-to-gatecrash-the-heavyweight-party/
Perez should beat Chagaev, who has really declined recently. However, Perez's inactivity will hurt him. He really needs a new promoter who will get him fighting three or four times per year, both to improve him as a fighter and also to keep his profile up. Eddie Hearn still has options on him from the Prizefighter, which was ages ago. He needs to permanently sign with Hearn as soon as he can.
He still looked decent against Povetkin. I think hes just allowed himself to put on weight because hes been fighting inferior opposition recently. Hopefully he trains hard for this fight. Hoping to see a good one! Perez has a lot going for him, but hes never fought anyone like Chagaev...could be a humdinger!:bbb
Power, skills, very composed. Lots of tools. He's not the tallest, and his dedication is sometimes questionable(how many times have we heard that about Cubans!?),but hopefully his dedication is now back and his height shouldnt be an issue against Chagaev who isnt the tallest HW either.
Yea man what happened with Perez? I remember people making noise about him 1-2 yrs ago then nada, zilch. What is it with inactivity and most Cuban fighters? Abril, Lara, and Rigo staying busy, but you don't here much about the rest.
**** I understood "lot going for him" wrong I thought it meant he had problems in personal life.atsch Anyways, I agree. Perez is one of these smaller hws today BUT what i have seen him he has skills, is fast and can PUNCH. It is interesting to watch these smaller men using their speed and agility against these big beanpoles we have today.
