10-round co-main event on a Lou DiBella card tomorrow night. Khurtsidze is currently ranked twelfth by the IBF. Lorenzo is absent from the organization's top 15 but was previously a longtime fixture in their rankings, having fought in three world title eliminators (victorious in one) and one shot at the world title itself between 2008 and 2012. Lorenzo, who enjoys an eight inch height advantage over Khurtsidze, also hasn't made the middleweight limit since 2013. Both the Georgian and Dominican are in their mid-thirties and can scantly afford to lose here.
Because of the ****ing terrorists in Paris, N'Dam and Khurtsidze had a rematch set and it was cancelled, and never rescheduled. Which sucks because I was really looking forward to that.
I kind of feel like HNN beats him 10/10, but AK definitely gave him the hardest night of anybody in his career besides his two losses (and that includes Curtis Stevens, or Lorenzo himself)
At this point I was favoring HNN as well, Khurtsidze did well in their first match but N'Dam still edged it on my card, but N'Dam even after his two losses is probably too much for Avtandil at this point. As far as Lorenzo goes, he should beat him with relative ease. I'd love to see Lemieux Vs. Khurtsidze.
My only question is whether or not the little Tornado man can stop the much larger and decently skilled but sometimes fragile-chinned and pressure-averse counter-puncher - or just outwork and overwhelm him to a decision. :think He is on a roll lately with six of his last seven outings being stoppages, most of them early wipe-outs. He is tiny but he comes at you hard and with fury, and doesn't gas.
In the main event, former WBO lightweight female champ Amanda Serrano goes for the vacant WBO featherweight belt taking on Canadian journeywoman Olivia Gerula, who in a nineteen year career has fought a who's-who of big names (with only two stoppage defeats) and participated in a number of world title bouts. Good card.
Check out the lines! Khurtsidze 1/10 Draw 25/1 Lorenzo 11/2 ...and here I'd felt a bit preemptively smug leaning Khurtsidze's way, figuring many were going to view this as close.
I think Avtandil will not only beat him but KO him late as well, those odds don't shock me all that much.
I'm reading that Khurtsidze failed to make weight so this might be off. :think Interesting that it was him that failed. Lorenzo is the one that has been campaigning at super middle.
...from Twitter: Amanda Serrano KO1 Olivia Gerula. KD 15 seconds in, endless barrage before ref stops with roughly 10 secs to go in 1st rd. #BroadwayBoxing
