• Anselmo Moreno vs. David De La Mora, 12 rounds for the WBA title.

• Abner Mares vs. Eric Morel, 12 rounds for the WBC Silver title.

Mares' opponent is still listed as TBA on Boxrec, but Abner himself has confirmed to fans through social media that the rumors are true. It will in fact be Morel. The only thing that isn't decided yet is the exact venue for the card. It will either be Cancun or somewhere else in Mexico.

Most people of course wanted Moreno and Mares - perceived as the two best at the weight - to face each other next. This double bill isn't as satisfactory as that would be, no - but their respective opponents are still quite satisfying in their own right...for completely different reasons.

DDLM really came out of the woodwork and proved himself in his previous challenge for the WBA title (the other "half" of it, the regular title...Moreno has the "Super" title) against Koki Kameda. He did so well, actually, that I had him winning by a small but comfortable margin and felt that Kameda benefited from a hometown decision in Tokyo. It pleases me to see his solid effort yield the reward (or consolation prize) of getting another shot so soon. Make no mistake - he may have a loss down as the official result in what appears to be his one career "step up" to date - but DDLM is a good fighter. I still favor Moreno, but think that this could actually be very, very close - and that DDLM has the style to push Anselmo and make this one of those rare Moreno performances that's actually pretty entertaining.

As for Mares vs. Morel - well, that one won't be competitive. :yep Yet it's something for everyone to get excited about. Fans of Lil Abner who may have talked him up as a big KO artist to their friends only to be left awkwardly hemming and hawing as he's failed to produce one in the last two years (no fault of his own; he's just been in with a few world class toughs) - rejoice. He will be returning to dominant prospect form and scoring a BRUTAL and SENSATIONAL knockout here. Boxing fans in general, who hate scumbags and love to see them get their comeuppance in the ring - rejoice. Child ****** Morel getting KTFO will be as immensely gratifying as Khoren Gevor getting KTFO by Abraham, or Luis Alberto Lazarte getting pistol-whipped & stopped by Pong and Casimero, or preteen-cousin-diddler Donovan George getting unexpectedly schooled by Panchito Sierra, or non-dedicated slob Arreola getting titty-****ed by Vitali Klitschko. :deal
