He barely threw any punches. Landed very few shots. Alvarez played with him for 12 rounds and could have KO'd him easily at any point. Very poor performance.
In survival mode from the opening rounds sadly.Coldwell was desperately trying to get him going but he wouldnt have any of it. Kept telling him to stop going southpaw but was ignored.
you cant knock the guy, he mostly likely felt the power in round 1 and 2, and them body shots ****ed him, after tasting power it must be hard to tee off
Do us a favour and STFU. He was out his league and done all he could. It's not as though he took a dive. Alvarez is a big kid and Rhodes deserves credit for withstanding severe punishment.
I dunno i didn't like the way he tried to lure Saul onto a punch and i believe the attitude ''i ain't gonna win on points lets wait for a KO'' is a really naive thing for a vet like Ryan to do. I think what TFFP said the other day rung true. Lack of quality fights since Moore will hinder him and it did. His lack of Ring IQ was shown up a little. This wasn't like Mosley the other month but i think he was beaten mentally when knocked down but least tried to make things happen. It was sweltering in that arena so i won't be to critical but it wasn't what i expected from Ryan. Thought he's land a few good shots, cause some trouble then get beaten later down stretch.
I wouldn't say awful, but Magic Matt looked better against Canelo and isn't even a career junior middle like Rhodes.
he went over for the paycheck. ignored his corner, went into survival mode from start to finish. then started banging on about how he only lost to a superstar. rhodes was happy to lose to a "superstar" and last the 12 rounds but alvarez had other ideas and gave him a pasting in the final round thankfully.
u gota say fair play for going over there, as 1 sided as it was, he did try, just Alveraz was to good
i thought the switching wasn't too bad but he wasn't throwing straight lefts when doing it so ultimately it proved pointless. Had no idea that Coldwell had told him to stop though It must be that Ingle DNA. Switch hit for the sake of it, can't lead to save their life, etc etc Oh well. What does he do next?
Not there to win, that was for sure. Used his strength up standing in there and taking his punishment, not throwing his own. Sad to see.
Exactly. It's not as though Rhodes was holding on and running down the clock. His best was never going to be good enough tonight against Canelo
