That's not the way it goes as far as rankings are concerned.
A fighter's resume plays the most important role here. Bigger names and where were they ranked at that time. If the resume is more or less even, then head to head comes into play

My list:

1. Margarito (based on quality of opposition)
2. Williams (a very close second)
3. Cotto (a very close third, put him below Williams cause he's coming off a big defeat, losing his title)
4. Clottey
5. Mosley
6. Quintana
7. Berto
8. Cintron
9. Judah
10. Ouali

 

Yes Williams has a win over Margo but Margarito still has beaten the better comp at 147 with wins over Cotto,Cintron,Clottey,SixHeads.

 

I commented because I feel like someone who ranks Cotto above Williams is not being objective, and ranking based on who they like, as opposed to who they think is better. Period. I never said anything about "fave"... That was actually YOUR comment I quoted that from. Maybe you should scroll back and read. If you actually read the post instead of looking for a chance to hurl an insult you might actually comprehend what I am saying.

 

I assume you meant that that's not the way it goes as far as your own personal rankings are concerned. Other people may favour a completely different approach and presumably you are not claiming to be somekind of authority that should be deferred to.

 

Who on earth ranked Cintron higher than Quintana? Based on what?

 

I thought about putting Karass in my top ten too I'm glad someone else did I might change my number 10 pick now.

Of course I just stated my opinion. From what I understand reading articles and listening to boxing writers, that is more or less how it goes as far as rankings are concerned.

So far I haven't bumped into an article, boxing website etc. that has Williams above Margarito. I guess they have a reason to place Margo above Paul and I assume they rate fighters the way I described, and I agree with their logic.

How far down does the #1 guys fall after a loss? How far did Williams move down the rankings when he lost to Quintana? And remember, Quintana was a lower top ten (if that...someone posted #19) WW. You are ignoring ALL of that and acting likle a friggin baby.
