I remember how rugged and polished Ayube Kalulue was back in the day before he suffered the knockout losses to Sugar Ray Leonard and Davey Moore in 81' and 82' rspectively. And I also remember at the time when Wilfred Benitez was moving up from 147 to 154 to fight for his third division world title and his backers had to choose between Kalule and Maurice Hope they chose Hope for his WBC Jr. Middleweight belt as oppose to the at that time unbeaten Kalule for his WBA belt to avoid having to deal with his rugged southpaw style while recovering from his own tko to S.R.L. back in '79. That's how good Kalule was to an extent back then.

And of course who can forget about the nice stylish/polished jab of Ike "Bazooka" Quartey, a signature punch along with a nice mean right cross and all attached to a rock solid body that always looked to be a bit to big for the Welterweight division before he moved up and who can forget about his most memorable clash and near upset with Oscar De LaHoya back in 99'. With all of those intangibles mixed in you most certainly have the makings of a very good if not great prime time (regular) HBO fight.

In my opinion the end result would be Quartey by a split decision or a possible last seconds 12th round knockout over Kalule, whose rugged southpaw style would give Quartey some problems early on before "Bazooka" finds his rythem and adjust by frustrating Kalule with his polished jab and fighting even with him on the inside in some areas before taking full control of the fight!
