Yeah I think so. Kalule was a very good fighter but I don't think he had the great lateral movement that would trouble Tito nor the massive power to put him down and keep him down. I'll say Tito TKO 10.
Kalule would be able to pressure Tito, and also make him look bad several times during the fight, but in the end Toto would stop Kalule. Woller
Kalule is a lefty......but Tito's long range left hook gets to Ayub from the outside, blind position. Tito in 7 rds.
If Kalule had a good chin or any power at all i think he would be a solid favourite here, given how one-dimensional Tito had become by jr middle and middle.Kalule is orders of magnitude superior technically and defensively to Reid, vargas or Joppy. However, his chin was outright poor imo.Considering he likes to stay at mid-range slipping and countering, while working subtle angles with his footwork, he's always going to be there for Tito to land on, even if Felix is missing six punches to land one. at junior middle where Kalule seemed a touch weight weakened, i could see Tito eventually coming on enough to force a stoppage, but i think he would be down afew points on the cards when he gets it.He's going to get hit an awful lot in the early\mid rounds. At middle he gets outboxed more often than not.I expect Kalule would have some dodgy moments later in the fight if he gets tagged and maybe put down once or twice, but he was so tough to hit twice in a row that Tito's methodical(and by that point left-hook happy) offense likely isn't going to cut it. Even McCallum against a very drained looking Kalule not near his best was made to miss left right and centre...getting his success by just throwing caution to the wind and brute forcing his way through.Tito is so patient and calculating i can see him having real trouble establishing a consistent attack. His style is better suited to more aggressive fighters that will be consistently leaving gaps for his hook.
If it's early, then Trinidad takes it.The later the fight goes, the more I'm inclined to think that Kalue wins, by UD.
When did Kalule get knocked out early? He wasn't weak, he just wasn't that durable as he was in bad shape in 154 an badly drained. I'd say Tito late, he'd keep forcing the issue as he did against Reid, who had the upper body slips but lacked Kalules feet. Kalule was incredible at bouncing around, slipping shots and landing unorthodox counters. But ultimately Tito would not have too much to worry about as Kalule couldn't hit all that hard at all. Saying that Kalule would have him down early, most did and Kalule would land a shot of Ho Joo proportions on the always open Trinidad. Of course, Tito might well be similarly weight-weakened if forced to make weight on the day as Kalule did.
tito stops kalule late with a relentless beatdown imo. tito was a great lmw although he wasn't there for very long.
More like greatly overrated. He was very dangerous, but fragile and totally unable to adapt or think in the ring. the Tito that let Vargas back into the fight for a while and was hit so often by him and reid would be very hard pressed to beat guys like Buster Drayton, Moore, Hope, Vazquez, Wright or Freddie Little at the weight, fighters barely anybody considers great.Maybe even Wajima. Those are all close debatable fights for him. Tito has some very good traits for beating Kalule, but also a few that could see him shown up by a craftsman yet again. That mante character makes some fine points, but summiing things up it will likely depend on how soon Tito can really hurt Kalule and force him to trade. It's likely he'll hurt him at some point..if it's decisive and early he could keep the pressure on and make kalule have to fight him like the one with slowed legs did against Moore and MCCallum, thus taking charge of the exchanges and fight over the 2nd half. if he lets him back into the fight like he did Vargas or build an early rounds lead, plus lets him dictate the tempo and exchanges for long stretches(as tito usually always does) then it'll make for a very hard fight. It's not like Tito ever changed pace or was able to cut the ring off when struggling, he just keeps mechanically throwing quaity punches and hoping they do damage. The way to beat a boxer-type with Kalule's strengths\weaknesses is to take the play away, dictate pace and really cut loose, let your hands go and initiate consistently offensively, ideally mixing the type of punches you throw up(ie not rigidly textbook or winging non-stop haymakers).Tito though, is someone who lets the other fighter dictate and challenges them to have the tools to come through his methodical unchanging attack unscathed. It could result in him being a step behind for too long, or too often.
Well i'm not saying he beats the likes of griffiths, lmr or carter. He might not even survive against jackson. He never beats winky nor oscar imo but he has a punchers chance against a whole lot of history's lmw's. Still for a while he was the best in the division and had rightly earned his place at the top.
I think he would do a good bit better against Oscar at 154 than he did at Welter.DLh didn't have the same legs or stamina(never his strong point in the first place) at this weight. Then again i sem to be in the minority who don't rate Oscar at 154.imo he was better as young fighter at 130\135 than he was here.
Wright was a fine fighter when sharp, though wins against those versions of Mosley and Tito, as well as losing bouts he really should have won against Vargas, taylor etc do not make an unequivocal great imo. Someone like Hope could comfortably accomplish similar feats. Not knocking him, but don't tell me you think he's an all-timer too
