I doubt you will be able to have a thread on him without the anti-Leonard trolls ruining it to be honest. Anyway, imo he was a great technical fighter, hampered by having no power.Weight issues at light middle were a big problem as well.Moegens Palle admitted they basically had to cut an arm off to get him to make weight. Shades of Jofre and Napoles in his style; always in position to punch and could counter as well as any fighter around at the time. A good example of how good a counterpuncher he could be was the fight with the technically skilled Villa.Compared to Benitez sporadic countering efforts he looks a model of efficiency and economy as he lands at will throughout the fight and busts Villa up until he retires on his stool. Overall a very good-not great fighter.Better as a full middle than a junior.A pity most of the easily available film on him shows a slowed weight drained fighter.
very stiff, little to no head movement, lack of speed, no power, and walked straight in - your typical European fighter. I forgot, he was easy to beat. Prospects Moore and and a very green McCallum both kayoed him. With all the Ray Leonard fans on board, will no doubt stretch him into some great superman to make Leonard's win that much more noteworthy.
Tiresome isn't it?atsch I mean, how can someone have the energy to waste on something so pointless and to such an absurd degree?
head to head with other jr middles? Not well. i think we all know that a Tony Ayala-Ayub Kalule match would be legalized murder. That is a three round fight if I ever saw one. Jackson-Kalule. Again, the stench of death is in the air for this one. Two rounds. Terry Norris-Kalule. Do I even have to bother commenting? hearns-Kalule. McCallum- Kalule. I almost fogot this fight happened both times. The results confirm my suspicions: McCallum by knockout. Conclusion: Kalule is a low grade fighter.
Shade of Jofre and Napoles! Too bad his career didnt quite work out the way you thought. It takes more in today's world to compete than being a punching bag.
You're confusing me with someone who gives a **** about your "opinion" Rooster. We all now you're a Leonard fan deep down anyway
Pretty obscure fighter, and because of that he's underrated to a degree. Leonard waxed more than once that he was one of his hardest fights.
