    Mundine would have schooled Fenech.

    Boxer beats the puncher.

Do half the ******s in this thread realise they are talking about a featherweight beating a supermiddle weight. Leadright, you have **** for brains. Considering how long you have been on the forum, surely you must realise this. You just couldn't possibly be that dumb.

Fenech in his prime was an absolute beast.

I am going to post Fenech v Nelson 1 again for you guys to watch.

The hand speed, the work rate, the skills in this fight are unreal. The head movement and combination punching from Fenech is frightening.

Some people have compaired Hatton to Fenech. Hatton is not even close to being in the same league as a fighter that Fenech was.

Fenech in his prime was 10 x the fighter that Mundine will ever be. Whilst Jeff went up his 4th weight division, to take on an ATG like nelson, Mundine comparatively is jumping all around the divisions looking for the easiest bums to fight.

Mundine = A JOKE. If you can't see that, you are a lost cause. LeadRight, you must literally be IN LOVE with Anthony Mundine. Very sad.

I just had to quote this. Probably the worst post i have seen in a while, for so many reasons, i don't know where to start.

Apart from the obvious weight difference (dumbarse)...

Since when is Fenech a puncher???

Since when does a boxer always beat a puncher?

Being that Fenech is actually a swarming pressure fighter, since when does a boxer always beat a pressure fighter?

    Please enlighten me.

That was a top fight (Fenech - Nelson 1). I saw it again a couple of years ago, and still cant work out how Fenech didn't get the win.

The guy had balls too. I remember there were a few rounds in a row where they were just unloading on each other in the same corner, and neither fighter did little to get out of there. Thats something Mundine's never done for 10 seconds in any fight, let alone against someone like a prime Fenech, or nelson.

Their 2nd fight was a superior display from Nelson. There were rumours that he had malaria during their first fight. which was a load of ****. But he did seem to be performing a gear or two above during their 2nd fight.

Age definitely got the best of Jeff though. Fighting like that is very hard to do as a fighter gets older, and even harder to do at a higher weight class. Look how much Fatton struggled to cope at welterweight, only 1 division above his natural fighting weight.

Fenech was fighting a HOF, after a long layoff, 3 weight divisions up from when he started. That in itself is fantastic. The fact that Fenech beat him (regardless of the judges scorecards) makes it the best performance in the history of Australian boxing. I know there are some other great fights, but none with an Aussie boxer, against that level of opponent, with that much stacked against him.

Fenech at featherweight >>>>> Manny Pac. No question IMO. Fenech would have eaten him up in a bloody and brutal war.

fenech lost what made him great the night he was robbed in the first fight against nelson. he lost that subconcious desire to win at all costs. fenechs chin was NEVER an issue till directly after that fight. from then on, he had to be careful with his toothbrush least he ko'd himself with it.

    he was never the same.

Lionel Rose travelling over to Japan to beat legendary Fighting Harada is definitely up there. Especially when you consider Rose was 20 years old.

les darcy ko'd fred fulton in 2 in a spar.

fulton went on to be voted one of the best heavyweights in history never to win a title.....

darcy was a middle, and likely suffering from blood poisoning at the time.

Fair call, although from memory wasn't Harada at the tail end of his career??

The fact that Jeff was 3 weight classes up fighting a naturally bigger opponent, and a HOF as well after a 1 year layoff is pretty exceptional. Harada was a great fighter no doubt though, definitely an excellent win.

I'm not in any way knocking Fenech's achievements. I'm one of his biggest fans. It was towards the tail end of Harada's career, however he still fought for a couple of years after the Rose bout. In fact he went on and fought our own Johnny Famechon twice, getting robbed in the first bout.

Another great overseas win was Famechon travelling to London and beating the legendary Jose Legra on points for the title. Legra's record heading to the bout - 109-6-4!

Try telling herol graham after his savage KO from Julian Jackson that a boxer beats a puncher.
