Hi guys. I am considering purchasing a Azumah Nelson career set and was wondering the quality of his resume. I have seen his fihts against legends like Salvador Sanchez, Pernell Whitaker and Wilfedo Gomez. However I know little about the likes of Mario Martinez, Juan Laporte, Patt Cowdell and Calvin Grove (etc). Were these viable world challengers who went there to win or were they stiffs turning up for a paycheck?. I know a little about Jesse James Leija and Gabriel Ruelas, but when he fought them were they in there prime? Thanks, I just don't wanna get a career set where he is knocking over a load of stiffs for challengers.
Buy it!!! Cowdell was no bum, he ran Sanchez close in the early 80's. Fenech of course was a great fighter and both or thier fights were superb. Laporte was a decent fighter who was in with some fantastic fighters but never got a big win. He does have the likes of Sanchez, Pedroza, McGuigann, Gomez , Tszyu and Chavez on there though so clearly no bum. I've never seen the 2 Martinez fights but I know the 1st one was close. Again, buy the career set!!!
