I've been watching Azumah Nelson's featherweight fights and been thinking how he would have fared against the three amigos.

I think that he would have lost against all three by close UD. Barrera and JMM would have out-skilled him, and Morales would have out-brawled him.

    What do you guys think?

Beats them all in tough close fights.

Hm, I think he beats MAB and EM, JMM is a bit more of a toss up. I like Nelson though.

What makes Marquez a tougher assignment in your mind?

Nelson of the Sanchez fight vs Morales!! Sounds like the best fight ever to me. Could go either way, i'll say draw because i believe it would be a SD either way.

Barrera and Morales liked too fight too much. I know both could box but I think both would be inevitably drawn into a fight with Nelson. I don´t think they could win that one. JMM was not only a slightly better boxer than both, he also would be disciplined enough to stick with boxing. I still wouldn´t pick him to win but at best he has a 50/50 chance.

Marquez likes to fight just as much as both, if not more than Barrera. But he is a better boxer than both and the toughest fight for Nelson of the 3

Of course Azumah was still a little green in that fight with Sanchez...

A little  he got quite a bit better later on. Awesome fighter. Prime for prime him and Sanchez would have been an even better fight.

I think Azumah is good enough to dictate the pace against all three Mexicans, but whereas I feel Barrera and Morales could take his firepower fairly well, I'm not as confident about Marquez, who was on the floor against Barrera, Diaz, and four times against Pacquiao in two fights. Amazing powers of recovery, absolutely, but he's liable to go down more than once against Nelson in my estimation.

Barrera was actually completely disciplined during his stay at Featherweight. He boxed in all of his fights there against; Sanchez, Hamed, Morales, Tapia, Kelley, and Ayala. If he's cautious enough to want to box against that calibe of competition, I don't see him bum-rushing Nelson.

Well yes Azumah was very geen for that figjt. only reason he did so well was he was a total unknown quantity. A last minute sub. I believe. Had a ton of heart & pushed Sanchez to the limit. A better prepared Sanchez would have had a better time in a rematch. But Nelson did massively improve and truley evolve into "The professor" in his prime.
Anyway to answer the question he was way too green to handle the above mentioned in thier prime's. however in a prime for prime scenario is a totally different animal.

I think it was more his talent than the fact he was unknown that allowed him to do well.Sanchez fought the same way he always did.
