But the rap on Sanchez was. against fighters he was clearly better than, he would almost go to thier level & make a tougher fight of it than should be. he did it against, Patrick Ford. Cowdell ,La Porte & Ruben Castillo. But in fights where he had something to prove. Sanchez was magnificent. ( Lopez x2, Gomez).

 

A lazy generalisation imo, though there is truth in it for the Castanon and Garcia fights...not the others imo.

 

Sanchez simply dealt better with certain styles than others.

 

Azumah Nelson was still green but tuff in 1982 when he was TKO'd by Sal Sanchez on PPV..... The Nelson who KO'd Wilfredo Gomez in 1984 for the WBC 126 lb. title was peaking and more finely tuned..... WORD!!

I think he ko's MAB and Morales and decisions Marquez or stops him in the late rounds. 15 rds., of course. Nelson was a level above them all and could match up with ANY featherweight in history. Lopez and his punch would give him hell though, methinks.:smoke
