Azumah Nelson v Barry McGuigan in 1985. Who wins?

This was EXACTLY what I planned on saying as I read through the thread. Since it's already been said, I'll just say...I agree.

 

Would have been a great fight but I think Nelson wins late.great fight.

 

Nelson & Fenech come to that would have dusted McGuigan .
It was Barney Eastwood who would have none of it, McGuigan himself wanted the fight but Eastwood said no . Instead lined him up with an easy fight in Las vegas against a part time plumber from Mexico Stevie Cruz, McGuigan normally would have dealt with the guy but Eastwood in his greed did not take into account the heat in an outside car park at mid day.
Donald Curry was training the other fighter said "They must be crazy coming here in this heat to fight"...he was right as McGuigan lost to a lesser fighter Cruz , absolutely dehydrated & drained

 

McGuigan was a good fighter. A warrior. But he was tailor made For Nelson, and Nelson would've been all wrong for him . Nelson would've took him apart, stopping him within 10 rds.

 

Barry was good, but Azumah was on another level. And Barry was fortunate that Bernard Taylor never developed his talent. Nelson over McGuigan by an 8th round tko.

 

Afraid to say but Barry wouldn't beat Nelson on his best day. Nelson is just a little to much of everything for Barry. He would take Mcguigan s best shots and chip away at him. He'd crowd Barry that much than he wouldn't have been able to get any thing off, whilst all the time azumah would be attacking him ferociously. I see Barry been dropped somewhere around the tenth.

Much as I love Barry, I'm going with Nelson. Would be an edge of seat fight and Nelson would have to be at his best, but I see Barry losing by decision.

 

I’m pretty sure McGuigan himself has said in the past that he would have lost if he’d met Azumah. He’s right.
