Nelson never appeared to duck anyone but he did miss out on a few potential clashes against quality co-champions at featherweight and super featherweight.

How do you think these would have gone?

    Eusebio Pedroza (1985) - featherweight
    Barry McGuigan (1986) - featherweight
Rocky Lockridge (1988) - super featherweight
Brian Mitchell (1988-1990) - super featherweight

Eusebio Pedroza (1985) - featherweight Eusebio was a hell of a fighter but long in the tooth in 1985, Nelson on points or late stoppage.
Barry McGuigan (1986) - featherweight McGuigan was a good fighter but hittable and I think Azumah is too strong for him, ko 10
Rocky Lockridge (1988) - super featherweight Lockridge was tough nut, Nelson on points
Brian Mitchell (1988-1990)-super featherweight Mitchell was a brilliant away fighter but never beat top notch fighers but had good skills. I think he might give Azumah trouble early on but Nelson would take over and take it on points by a couple of rounds.
