How does the professor do against two of the current elite featherweights?

Pose the fight at 126 or 130. Your choice.

Huh... He could upset either, I think.

Nelson's one of those perptual underdogs...

Why don't you give me your opinion rather than trying to guess mine?

BTW, I do think he KO's both, but he may struggle with both at 130, and may need a couple of opportunities there to do it. At 126 I like Nelson to dominate both of them.

You saw it. Although not a Nelson at his best weight. Since the fight had nothing to do with punching power or strength and everything to do with technique, what would be the intrigue in guessing what happens in a p4p match up?

sorry i didnt see it. Nelson was far more better physical shape faster greater in ever sense vs Salvador Sanchez. At least thats what the film tells me.

I will concede Whitaker was naturally bigger than Nelson so its hard to match them up at there best

Nelson was a tad quicker and that's about it against Salvador Sanchez. Nelson actually improved technically AFTER that fight, and imo got stronger, even as a featherweight.

Of course Whitaker wasn't a featherweight, but there's nothing Nelson can do that's going to beat Whitaker, even at a p4p level. Whitaker has proven he can take bigger shots than Nelson can give and he is just flat out better technically and outboxes him 10 times out of 10.

Whitaker is one of the best defensive fighters I have ever seen no doubt, but for a defensive wizardy as himself(only one like him his pep and maybe locche )......whitaker liked to run to much and didnt unload sharp combinations the way pep did......his running cost him some big fights. Against a top notch great boxer-puncher he could have some trouble. I was actually most impressed by whitakers performance against ATG oscar de la hoya whos one of my favorites, Too bad he didnt know how to lay off the Yay.

I like Nelson by knockout over JMM. I think Manny Pac and Nelson would be a war, a toss up

    Any reasons for those picks?

Nelson hits harder than Pac imo, and I assume you mean Marquez is not going to get nailed by him if he's to win the fight. The amount of times he's been hurt, it's hard to see him lasting the fight out, even if he does outbox Nelson for a portion of the fight.

As for Pac vs. Nelson, I think Pac has a small chance to KO Nelson, but I think Nelson will be strong and resilient enough to take what Pac can throw and then in the second half of the fight he will force Pac on the backfoot where he isn't comfortable at all and will seize control of the fight.

Whitaker liked to run too much? As opposed to Pep? Come on now...

Whitaker never had Pep's sharp combination throwing ability, that I'll concede.

But what cost him some big fights (the DLH fight you must mean, because he undoubtably beat Ramirez and Chavez) was being past his prime.

Is your criticism any fairer than me saying Pep's lack of heart to keep fighting through pain cost him some big fights he was winning (Saddler) and his inability to fight on the inside cost him against Sammy Angott?
