Good fight. Nelson could take it, the guy was a genius. He had a great chin so naz ain't stopping him. I see Nelson making him pay for every mistake and opening, and claiming a wide point s win.
Not sure if people are coming around on Hamed or not with the passing of time. I think Nelson has superior skill and power to rival or surpass Hamed. I think Hameds unorthodox approach would cause issues and hesitancy on the part of Nelson much as it did everyone. Contrary to revisionist history Hamed didn't receive a one sided beat down from Barrera but he was schooled in the fundamentals nonetheless. I see Nelson taking an8-4 decision with the possibility of stopping Hamed late. I have a lot of appreciation and respect for Hamed and think more highly of him than some. I just think Nelson would be the best he every faced including Marco...but Nelson would be a hill to high
I think hamed at his best before his brothers took over and he started just power punching would be a tough fight for Nelson he was quick and hard hitting and unorthodox .it would take adjusting for Nelson but Azumah was a great fighter hard hitting quick excellent chin great skill and boxing brain and very strong .He would stop hamed late in a great fight.
Nelson figures him out after a few rounds starts blasting him with combos for a stoppage win late. I thought Hamed was overrated. He could punch with best of them but his "defense" was overrated. Kevin Kelly nearly turned him into the biggest bust in years later Barrera turned him back easy. And he never recovered took his gloves and went home. Say what you will I thought fact he basically retired after that fight hurt his legacy. He has some good wins though Medina, Boom Boom, McCullough and he was entertaining for sure
Like Barrera-Hamed, this features substance over flash. Hamed certainly has the hand speed advantage. Azumah was a very crafty and resilent guy. He could slip or accept Hamed's left hand as he moves forward and gets inside of Barrera's reach. Like Barrera, Nelson utilizes the straight right all night long catching Hamed time and again as Hamed has the horrible habit of dropping his hands and pulling straight back. As the fight wears on, Nelson accelerates and pulls way ahead on the cards. Hamed is tough and he lasts the distance but Nelson wins a clear UD.
I'm going to go against the grain.Hamed hit hard and was very fast-faster then Nelson. Mix in his unorthodox style and I think it would be too much for Nelson.
In order to win Hamed A. Has to knock Azumah out. Well, Azumah had a phenomenal chin, clearly one better than Cesar Soto's, so thats rather unlikely. B.Has to outbox Azumah to win. Huh? The most technically unsound fighter in awhile is going to outbox someone nicknamed The Professor? Nope. Azumah by boxing masterclass decision or late ko. Honestly, Hamed stands no chance in this one.
I honestly think Nelson would stop him, and that Hamed would be stopped by plenty of in their prime ATG's. He has glaring holes in his game and is too easy to hit.
Hamed showboating and awkward style would not unsettle Azumah. Once Azumah finds his rhythm and range he would impose his will and batter Hamed like Barrera. Azumah would stop Hamed late.
I don't think Nelson ever fought anyone with Hamed's power and unusual punching angles. I can see Hamed catching him totally by surprise with a unexpected big uppercut and stopping Nelson with a follow up attack.
