Not dissimilar to Matthew Saad Muhammad-Lottie Mwale, but I’d give MSM the edge in sheer savage beauty of it. This content is protected
Hard to compare knockouts from an aesthetic perspective, and even things such as camera angles outside of the fighter's control, can affect how we view KOs. Nelson-Cowdell is a classic one punch knockout though. ATG taking out a normally durable contender with a single shot in the first round, trap perfectly set and executed. Cowdell had a slightly awkward herky jerky style, leaning in with the jab and keeping the opponent off-balance. Liked he showed against Sanchez, he was difficult to catch clean and look good against. Nelson set him up for the counter left and dropped him like a stone.
What made it especially impressive was that Cowdell had gone the distance w/ Sal Sanchez & given him quite a battle a few years earlier, & had remained unbeaten in the interim since then (& also scored a win over future titlist Kelvin Seabrooks during that time frame).
