    Only question is Marquez.

I cannot for the life of me see MAB or Morales beating Nelson.

I generally agree with what George and griffo have said, good observations by the both of them that I'll repeat.

In real time, fight by fight situ I could see all three fights being close if Nelson had spells of dolly daydreaming or switching unnecessarily between styles, coasting or not moving his head like against Laporte, Villasana, Martinez etc.

If though he was focused and drew correctly on his rounded arsenal of tools to execute specific plans tailored to each opponent, then he should do all three of the trio over.

Fighting a slightly conservative, jab/reach orientated, mobile but not full-on retreating fight against both Morales and Marquez with educated lateral movement to keep turning them and forcing them to reset and over-extend should see him home comfy on the cards.

Barrera was more adaptable though and similar to Nelson as a jack of all trades and would be better suited, at least early in his feather days before his footspeed declined, to rolling with any changes of momentum or tactics that Nelson might inject. Or to force the changes himself between pressuring and fighting on the back foot as the situation required. Griffo mentioned his weakness to fast, straight, hard punching though as shown in the Pac and Jones fights. That's a problem if Nelson gets it right and applies educated pressure with good upper body movement/positioning and just keeps uncorking his right hand with a mix of finesse and abandon. Especially as Barrera didn't have a great straight right of his own like the other two to level the playing field on that front despite being a more balanced boxer puncher than them. Hard to forget JMM and Erik bringing Pac down to earth after MAB had made him look like an ubermensch, spinached-up Popeye/Duran hybrid.

Man I have him 0-3 against them.

I think Marquez is better than Nelson at everything and wins a very boring chess match.

MAB I think was at his best as a brawler and I think he out guns Azumah to eek out a decision based on workrate.

as for Em, I struggle to envision Azumah having many opportunities to make him miss and make him pay. I think Em wins the clearest of decisions keeping him on the other end of his straight shot arsenal

I'd say he's pretty well regarded on here. I'm a big Marquez fan too but I think he actually improved as he went up in weight so whether he has a better chance of beating Nelson at 126 or 130 is an interesting point of debate, I'd say.

I do think Azumah would have his work cut out against all 4. Not that he wouldn't win, but he wouldn't beat any of them with ease in my view. All super tough, well schooled Mexicans with plenty of experience. Oh, and Manny of course.

Am I under rating Nelson here? Maybe, but I don't think so...

MAB brawling with Nelson is gonna turn out terribly... for MAB.

Nelson has Barrera outgunned in firepower, chin, handspeed, and physical strength.

Barrera is the easiest out of the three for Nelson.

I may add a few to the OP, or make separate threads as I watch more. I'm interested to find a consensus on the general perception of Nelson's standing, H2H. Since I've always thought he was a bit overrated, but had never really seen much of him.

Nelson is a strong H2H force, but I wouldn't favor him a say... Pep, Saddler, Arguello, or Saldivar at 126.

At 130, I wouldn't favor Nelson over Floyd, Arguello, Camacho, Chavez, or Pac.

Pedroza vs Nelson is a compelling matchup I've always wondered about.

I don't think Nelson would ever find MAB easy

    Oh, interesting. How about these?

    Nelson vs Ernesto Marcel, 126
    Nelson vs Flash Elorde, 130
    Nelson vs José Legra, 126

A very good chance of going unbeaten against em all. Manny, I'd say takes him the closest.

I cannot see the professor going 4-0 against this great lineup of fighters, potentially he could lose to every one of them on a given night. These would be fights to remember .
