Hmm. . . I don't know, as Russell hasn't fought anything close to an elite boxer. . He hasn't progressed past the C-level of opponents. . . While Donaire has been in with true world class, pound for pound boxers. . But I do think Russell has faster "base speed" and is about 10-15 pounds naturally larger, but I think Donaire has better timing, and reflexes. . . And explosive power, they are about the same. . I'd need to see Donaire fight at 126, and Russell fight at least some solid B/B+ type guys first. . . But if it happened tomorrow, I'm leaning towards Donaire due to experience, ability to "read and react" in the ring, and think/box "on the fly," while Russell more or less just has a gameplan, and executes. . .
Russell does need to step it up. which it appears he is tying to do after his last fight hes been dropping names. we shall see. I like both guys. Donaire is a tough kid.
Let me note that I think Donaire isn't quite as "naturally large" as we once thought he was. . . And I think Russell is a pretty solid-sized, large featherweight. . . While Donaire is still natural at about 120 pounds. . . On fight night, Russell would have about 8 pounds on him His power isn't quite the same as it was at 112-118. . . "pound for pound" Donaire has better power, and explosiveness, but at 126, it's about even. . . I just think Donaire would eventually time Russell, and stop him. . . BUT, and I say BUT, I first need to see Russell in with some REAL competition, and Donaire hasn't even fought the elite 122 pounders, much less shown he can compete at 126. . . Which isn't a big jump poundage wise, I think 126 is full of guys a lot bigger, and stronger, who make the cut. . .
Agree. . . I'd really love to see him fight Juan Ma; but Juan Ma cant come back until March 2013 I believe. . . I think a guy like Daud Yordan would be perfect for his next fight.
