:bbbBUCKSKIN GLOVES Set for May; By Brian W Zelley Now that the 2010 BC Golden Gloves are history what does one, or better still what does BOXING BC do for a follow-up. The answer is simple - BUCKSKIN GLOVES are set for May in what is called Zone 7 of British Columbia. At the present time representatives of Boxing BC are preparing the news releases announcing the host club and specific dates. Any discussion of the host club will be held back until formal releases, but the club involved has an interesting story that will be told in a few days. Looking back, the Buckskin has a proud history and has featured some excellent boxers such as three-time Jr BC Golden Boy Cliff BALLENDINE and many others. In the early Seventies the tournament was in limbo until former boxers ED WILLIAMS and ROGER ADOLPH got involved to revive the tournament. It has not been held on an annual basis like the GOLDEN GLOVES, but when it has been held it provides a shot in thre arm for many boxing clubs scattered throughout the Province of British Columbia.
