Roy Jones is a major force in world Boxing no matter what era you put him in.

I forgot guys like MAB, EM, JMM,

Cotto may be a belt holder, but he wouldn't be the man in any division, the 15 rounds limit would be his un-doing.

Mayweather and Ward because they're dedicated boxing nerds. The higher fight frequency back then could have forced James to stay in the gym more often and not be as fat?

They are saying Roy wasn't slick because of his freak, roid helped athleticism.

Prime Toney vs Prime Dick Tiger gives me wood.

Erik Morales career would suffer the hardest. Small man weight class fighter that doesn't have the discipline to avoid brawling. All that fan friendly **** becomes a bigger tax on the body when someone fights more often. He'd take more damage per year in those older eras.

Roy would have beaten all those old school fighters with ease. No doubt about it.

I'd wager that Morales gets further than MAB does in those eras. If you look at Barrera's early career, through the Junior Jones losses it shows what sort of fighter he was before he evolved. He'd probably of ended up burnt out before Morales did.

So wait, the best of this era could maybe be the best in former eras? And the worst of our era would be the worst in other eras? Now I'm enlightened :p

People would be surprised how few of ATGs there are if they would just cut through the hype. He didn't say they would be great(didn't read OP fully lol) he said good but I'd say Floyd, Ward, maybe Pacq but he's too wild at times so I doubt it, maybe Wlad&Vitali, Barrera, JMM,etc. could do good to name a few. Not saying they're All Time Great but could be All Time Good. He's delusional if he thinks only current black fighters could do good in those times and this is from a black guy lol(mixed but yeah still black).

i dont think he meant they would be great or dominate. i think he means if we had to choose ANY fighters today that would hold their own back then it would be them. Floyd and Ward definately wouldnt be undefeated but i think they would have a positive record

I like Cotto, solid champion overall.

Thing is Cotto never has been the man in any division even in this era. At 140 it was KT, 147 beat by Margarito, arguable Clottey, never took on PW, at 154 hasn't fought anybody in the top 10.

Hops does say racial stuff to rile people up regardless. I do agree that Floyd and Ward would do well but I'm sick of things being so concentrated on race. I know life can be like that at times but it's ridiculous for adults to keep dividing people based on race. It's stupid.

He's wrong. All of the fighters he listed are fairly old school but that doesnt mean only they could compete in the 50's. Any of the modern top fighters could compete in the old days, assuming they were properly conditioned for 15 rounds. Old time fighters get overrated anyway.
