Its true if this fight is close judges are going to perfer Jones loud shots even at 39 his punches sound like gun shots.

As much as you'd like to see Jones beat Calzaghe it won't happen. He's far gone. Whereas Calzaghe is maybe slightly gone.

Calzaghe took this fight now for a reason.

And that's how he'll always see it. And that's how anybody who seen the taylor fights and calzaghe fight should see it as well. And if I was a fan of any of those fighters, the only win I would feel good about is the Roy Jones fight, if you get my draft.

Now, who has fought the hall of famers? No comparison...and add Tarver.

I like Tarver too. I'm just trying to figure out where he gets the indication that Tarver is all of sudden a lot better now than when he fought Hopkins. Maybe it could be that Hopkins is that good. But on the contary he could be right, only because, maybe, just maybe, Hopkins is worse now because he shows his age more NOW, than when he fought Tarver. Now that seems more like the logical explanation. And if that's what it is, than Calzaghe would of gotten beatin up worse by Hopkins if he fought him in 06.

I want Roy Jones to beat Calzaghe, but anybody saying Hopkins won in his fight with Joe are just crazy or patriotic..or both. He did nothing.

Perhaps I was being a little too obtuse for you.

Hopkins beat Tarver, because Tarver had to lose 50lbs of muscle to make weight. Now that Tarver is settled at LHW, he would kick Hopkins ass. And, I don't think Tarver is anything special. Hopkins is 2-3 in his last 5 fights, both of his wins against fighters with weight management issues. Hopkins career has been that of an opportunist, every time he has fought a credible opponent on equal terms he has lost.

Sorry but when you get beat the way he did by hopkins, it ain't just weight. It wouldn't matter what Tarver showed up, he just didn't have the right style to do it and the Hopkins who fought Tarver would of knocked Calzaghe out and it's clear as day because he looked a lot better in the Tarver fight. If you did a poll, I guarentee you People will buy into the Hopkins lost because he was too old against Calzaghe more than the Tarver lost because he was badly weight drained against Hopkins.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda, but didn't. The bottom line is Hopkin's signature wins are over three guys moving up at least two divisions in weight and one guy having to nearly kill himself to drop weight. Other than that, his resume of wins is just a who's-who of well traveled journeymen and bottom-feeders.
