I said it a few months ago and people laughed at me. He is one of the most underrated fighters ever, believe it or not !

The only man in the history of boxing that in a 20 years long career, was only beaten once clearly (way before his prime) with a couple of fights that could have gone either way.
Fought about 15 world titlists and 8 top 10 pound for pounders, many of them after the age of 40 !
21 title defenses + winining the lightheavyweight title at the age of 41.

Didn't lose a round to unbeaten champions Pavlik, Tarver, Tito and Glen Johnson (and the only man to stop the last two).
Only man to clearly beat Winky Wright.
Arguably, the only man to beat Joe Calzaghe (in any case, a very close fight with a fellow great at the age of 43).

What more do you want ? He clearly passed Hagler and Monzon, if not from a middleweight perspective - from a pound for pound one !

Just outside for me. I have, geekily, compiled my own P4P top 20 before, and had Hopkins as a 'notable nearly' but now rank him in the top 15, about 13th/14th. I will NOT start writing Pavlik off as a Lacy-type fighter, I KNOW that most were tipping Pavlik beforehand, I was myself but wanted B-Hop to win.

I am so happy, in fact I'm elated; it was in fact similar to LAcy's destruction at the hands of Calzaghe, albeit Bernard didn't do as much damage (physical) to Pavlik, though he did mark him up, I believe the whitewash nature of it might very well be detrimental to Pavlik in his next few fights, and possibly his whole career, a la Lacy.

I bet Arthur Abraham thinks he's missed out on a big pay day. Even at MW, that fight doesn't seem to have the same aura around it now.

If Pavlik comes back and dominates in 1-2 more fights in the MW division...The luster of this fight would be regained.

No before this fight I had him int the top 40 after this masterclass at 43 I have him Top 30 to 35. If he goes on to avenege his loss to Calzaghe or beat Dawson I would rank him top 20 to 25.

Hops is one of my favorite fighters of all time but lets not get carried away. I don't see how you can keep him outside your top 35 all time but he is not top 10. I have him between 25 and 30 now. A few spots below Jones. His legacy is cemented.

 Geez, you have 30 to 35 guys ahead of what Hopkins has put together over his career?

I think some people are going a bit overboard, it was a great win no doubt, but it does not justify a top 10 ranking. Anywhere from 20-30 is a fair ranking in my view.

You need to learn more about boxing history, Top 40 is where I place him.

Let's not go overboard. Bernard is not top 10 ATG.

However what is most impressive is his ressiliance to age. He is perhaps top 10 p4p of fighters 40+ years old. That is very possible.

I love Hopkins but boxing has a rich history of great fighters and yes I could put 30-35 fighters in front of him and most here would agree.

10-20. I would love to see anybody's list outside of that, and provide solid argument.

If Bernard fought during the period of b&w cameras he would rank higher. Just kidding.

I am just so elated right now. Bernard is probably my favorite fighter of all time, call me a fruit but that was a moving performance and I would be lyimg if I said I didn't cry.

WAR BHOP. YOU ARE A LEGEND.

It's near impossible to justify Hopkins being top 10 all time.
