Someone did a thread last week saying something like `If Hopkins beats Pavlik will he be top 10 all time ?` My answer is the same.... No... because I expected him to beat Pavlik - not as easy as he did - but still, lets not get carried away YET AGAIN. The last time people here on ESB got carried away, it was with how good Pavlik was so lets take a few breaths & stop talking utter ****, cheers.
He does not rank top 10 no way no how. He is not even the best fighter of the last 20 years. Top 35-40 sounds about right.
I've probably moved him up from the 60 range to between 40 and 50. Not because he beat Kelly Pavlik in itself, who has proven himself as a limited fighter, but because of the level of performance aged 43. I think I lost sight of that amid the messy affair with Calzaghe.
**** me the same as Sugar Ray Leonard atsch. Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns, Wilfred Beniteiz and Marvin Hagler are Ray Leonards four best wins. Who does Hopkins have that compares to those ATG's?
You know whats the most impressive thing about BHOP. He is not great at any particular part of the game. He just do EVERYTHING good. And works VERY hard. And is smarter than most people in the game
I don't know about all times. Thats hard to say. But I know when you compared his accomplishments with PBF's, Floyd doesn't come even close. BHOP battles are the ones people remember. Remaining a TOP fighter for so many years only, its an amazing accomplishment. Not only boxing. I will say BHOP is one of the biggest athletes in the history of USA. There is only one way to have that condition at that age. HARD WORK!
