"I believe that if Floyd Mayweather and Pacquiao fight tomorrow, I think it would be easy money for Floyd Mayweather. I didn’t think totally that way four or five years ago when the hype was at the highest. I think that Pacquiao took three notches back. That’s my opinion — and that was before the knockout from Marquez" Hopkins told While many fans would still like to see it, Hopkins believes the fight should have happened several years ago when the widespread interest was there. "I don’t agree with anybody that thinks that Pacquiao-Mayweather is the big fight per say of the perception of who would win and who would lose like it was before. I think we lost that opportunity, I think we lost the biggest super bowl in boxing" via On The Ropes Boxing Radio/Scene
Pretty sure 90% of actual professional boxers believe this also. Even trainers. Pac 2009 though is really a different beast.
Of course he is going to say Mayweather would win: the toothless ******* is very racist. Not only that, but since he is angling for a fight with Floyd he has to try to get on his good side.
I'm pretty sure 92% of the industry knows Floyd easily beats Pac. 8% think Pacquiao wins it. But of course like Maidana fight that 8% here on ESB is more like 50% of the vocal *******s. *******s make most of the posts on this forum. They're loud mouthed and post a lot. Quantiy, never QUALITY.
Everyone said that about "Slow" Maidana. Pacquiao ain't slow. Mayweather better get back on that regimen that he was doing before the canelo fight where he had veins popping out if he wants to fight pacquiao: http://www.trbimg.com/img-523b76c4/turbine/sns-mayweatheralvarez-fight-breaks-payperview--001/599 Honestly, I thought his jab looked very slow and almost nonexistent. Everyone knows the importance of the jab in boxing. Khan may be a flawed fighter but he has a lightning fast, sharp jab to work behind. Believe me....it's better than Maidana's. I initially thought it was comical that Khan said Mayweather was avoiding him. But you see how he avoids these faster fighters....and it makes you begin to wonder.
I actually agree with Hopkins and about 90% of boxing fans would agree too. The problem though is that we believe in Floyd more than he believes in himself..... sad truth.
:tired hear the same thing and keep talking, but unfortunately Mayweather doubts himself and feels threatened even just hearing the name Pacquiao. Keep ducking Pacquiao.
:deal I agree! but i think you have more balls than Floyd himself.....which does not count of course :hey :hi:
Basically Hopkins is saying he thinks Pac has declined as a fighter, and thought that even before he got KO'd. And I totally agree.... as I think most without an agenda and actually study his fights would. A 2008, 2009 Pac is a great, great fight though. Those times are gone, and I think Mayweather would dissect Pac to a UD today.
Yeah we did lose the super bowl of it all but i wouldnt even call it that, more like the world cup. Some thing that only comes every 4 years, or even longer then that. I think he spanks Pacquiao too but we can only hope they fight each other and even then, when Mayweather most likely wins, people will say he ducked Pac in his prime when pac turned down the test. As long as Pac is on his resume at some point, nobody can ever take that away from him
