The only thing that Pavlik has on Calzaghe is power. That is it. He would gat badly outboxed. Outworked. Outsped. Beat up and shut the **** down :good
The outcome of JT v KP II will be the same. I agree with whoever said JT will revert back to what he knows once he gets tagged with a few solid right hands. Once that happens, good night, good riddance JT. KP = KO rd. 7.
Yeah, people talk about Taylor making the adjustments needed to win, but as always, he will come into the fight with the same bad habits and flaws. I think I'm leaning towards an earlier knockout and I think the weight will really do good for Kelly (even more so than Jermain)
Pavlik also has a longer arms than Mike Tyson, and he is taller. Pavlik is still a middleweight. Wasnt that long ago people were saying that about Kessler. Ive been posting on here since 04 and as a Calzaghe fan, long before Joe avatars became popular. And I have seen plenty of posters claim that their guy is bigger, quicker, throws more, hits harder and is more skilled than Joe Calzaghe and they have all been wrong...and have looked stupid afterwards, be careful what you say.
Taylor had the opportunity to correct his flaws, but opted for the immediate rematch, fired Manny, and put Ozell Nelson in charge of the training camp: Damn, that guy is about as smart as a bucket full of hammers! My feeling is that Manny did say some stupid stuff to Taylor between rounds. I heard it with me own ears! Manny under estimated Pavlik to a degree that is almost shameful, and consequently so did JT. That's why Taylor only lasted about 2 minutes longer than Bronco McKart and 2 full rounds less than Zuniga. However, it is not why he lost. Taylor lost because it was easy for Pavlik to build a home for his right hand smack in the middle of JT's face! Holding your left down low is just not a good idea when you're facing a guy with one of the best right hands in the business. The second reason JT lost is Pavlik's jab. Almost everyone Pavlik fights ends up going straight back at various points in the fight. It's not that they don't know any better. It's just that that stiff ass monster jab drives them back. For a guy like Taylor who is predisposed to back into the ropes that spells double trouble. It is also my feeling that JT thinks Pavlik just got lucky. In other words he still underestimates him. He won't correct many flaws in one training camp headed up by Ozell Nelson. My expectation is that Taylor will look at Pavlik's history of going down early in fights, and he'll come storming out looking for the quick KO, but Pavlik will be completely prepared, and he will hand JT his ass on a boxing glove. Jack Leow said it best in the first fight: "This is a basic ****in' fight with this kid! Jab-jab, right hand;simple!" Boo
Couldn't agree with you more. All things a boxer is trying to do changes once you start getting hit by bombs from a guy like Pavlik. Zertuche, Miranda and Taylor all had never been knocked out... and we all know how these fights all ended. I will actually be at the JT - Pavlik Rematch @ the MGM, Can't wait to see it. Hopefully its as good as the first.
Did you even watch the fight? Ya Taylor has great technique, especially how he keeps his hands down always... and seems to enjoy eating straight rights. On several occasions during the fight, Taylor would throw good combinations, yet Pavlik would come back and send JT into the ropes. You were dumb to pick Taylor the first time and dumb to pick him a second time.
