If you dig into it. Roy Jr was putting on a masterclass against James Toney at roughly the same point in his career at Bernard was fighting to a draw for a vacant belt with trial horse Segundo Mercado.

I don’t think BHop at the same stage of development handles Jorge Castro, who Roy toyed with at 17-0 (Bernard at 17 fights was nowhere near that level; his 14th fight was a 7-round TKO of David McCluskey, a career undercard journeyman who RJJ smoked in 3 in his fourth fight.)

Bernard certainly aged better but was on a much slower learning curve.

Does he meet Toney in '94 at SMW like Roy did? In that case, I don't know if he'd be ready for Toney. Calzaghe beat him at about the same time in real life as he beat Roy, so he would have to be favoured even though it was very close. Could he have beaten Ruiz in '03? Even with Shillstone and what he might have brought with him, it seems a big ask to move up four weight classes in one leap.

    He should beat the rest.

Jones would have schooled him again. Jones is totally wrong for Toney.

Open your second eye Mark and step away from the Roy Jones dartboard.

Did Toney even win a round? A ridiculously one sided victory over a fighter of Toney's caliber isn't run of the mill fodder.

Toney couldn`t close the distance and Roy really didn`t land that many shots in that bout, it was like 'no mas' in a way.

    BHop bet Tarver widely, chief.

He’d probably do about the same but with better longevity, bleeeing into his actual 175 career. His wins would just be more competitive. Not sure if he could be effective against Ruiz.

Eric Harding would be a dark horse for a possible upset.
