Former 3 weight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO) still hasn't decided who will be his opponent in his farewell fight. "The Executioner" has expressed a desire to face current middleweight champion Sergio Martinezem (50-2-2, 28 KO). The American is certain he would easily beat the Argentine.

"Martinez is very easy to beat, his style is made for fighters like me. he would look like Trinidad, Tarver and Pavlik in the ring with me. Trust me, I know what I'm saying", says the 47 year old, who lost to Chad Dawson on points in April.

I know this fight won't happen ever, but how would a prime Hopkins look against prime Sergio?[/quote]

That was just some remark he made on twitter, he didn't say he wants to fight him.

@reading some of the comments, the article has just made an assumption on it's own and it's interesting that it didn't mention the fact that Hopkins (also on twitter) didn't put Martinez in his p4p top 5.

Too much of a size disparity to make this fight a possibility. And to answer your question of would have won prime for prime at 160, Hopkins would have trinidaded him.

As strange as it sounds, i think Hopkins could be very dangerous for Martinez. I've seen Sergio pick apart come forward fighters like Chavez, Williams, Pavlik ect but never really seen him have to figure out a "chess match" in the ring, certainly not against anyone like Hopkins. The fact that Pavlik was giving Martinez so much trouble with his boxing worries me. And i am a BIG fan of Martinez.

Bad idea by Bhops I think. At this point Maravilla moves too fast and is too active. Its a close call wouldnt be surprised if Bhops dropped him, but those fast heavy handed combos could take a toll on Bhops. Even Ward said Maravilla is a small middleweight and I think he still has jr middleweight resistance, but hits like a supermiddleweight or harder. Close fight.

There is no way to make this fight on an even playing field, and the win would always be questioned as to how much of a factor weight was.

He also said he thinks Canelo easily beats Martinez earlier in the week. I'm sure that had nothing to do with their common Golden Boy affiliation.

This would be hard, albeit unfair, fight for Sergio, I think.
