It doesn't really matter what he's seen, because Hopkins doesn't have the ability to exploit them. He's shot.
Helping push Bika down. He was attacking Joe in a British ring... he had no right, it wasn't in the contract.
Bika shoulda read his contract closer. What Ottke fight was it when the ref actually stopped the other guy from hitting him? Anyone?
Over the course of the fight, absolutly. On a round by round basis no. I also don't think that Taylor's agression was ineffctive even when he was not landing. If my offense is keeping you so on gaurd that you can only throw single digit punches in a round, I'd say it is working even better than the best defense.
Joe Cal is a great fighter. Hopkins WAS a great fighter. Does Hopkins have just one more great fight left in him? He just needs to win 7 rounds to get a decision. It is "doable' if his mindset is right....that is why JoeCal is worried..because Joe shouldn't lose to an "Old Man".
To say Eubanks (He was 30 when they fought), Lacy, Reid, Kessler, Mitchel, Brewer, and even a prime Sheika are nobodys is just moronic. Calzaghe is beyond the point where you can say he was exposed. Prior to the Trinidad fight Hopkins had the worst resume' by fighting guys like Robert Allen 3 times. Tarver landed one good shot his entire career and Trinidad was fighting for his first time at MW and was a former WW. Hopkins gets too much credit for some of his wins.
Calzaghe's in ability to throw straight punches ... just like Ricky Hatton and Prince Naseem, their training methods are flawed. Ricky Hatton threw his wide hooking body shots because of that big device that they put around Billy Graham ... I mean that trained as if they were fighting Butter Bean. As far as Calzaghe goes ... I respect what he has accomplished and I wish him well but I seen a short clip of his training and all of the punches he practices on are wide -- he was hitting the focus mitts with his dad and its like they looked silly doing it. They both seemed out of control and they kept throwing wide shots and I didn't see any imphasis on defense at all. I know that Calzaghe has good footspeed and good upper body movement, but this is a world class fighter he's about to be facing - who accomplished just as much as he did. I see Hopkins exploiting his inability to throw straight punches, because some where down the line in that fight - joe is going to throwing wild punches. Hopkins will neutralize his speed with smothering his punches and often clinching. He will also use his head to frustrate Calzaghe and possible cut him - like he did Winky ... Hopkins has been in situations where he wasn't the faster fighter of the two. Calzaghe has never fought a guy as dirty or as smart as Hopkins ... who will study every Calzaghe fight along with his team. They will know every bad habit that Calzaghe possess --
Don't forget about the right hand being thrown by Hopkins ... I have yet to see a fighter put a stop to that. I think that Hopkins will throw that right consistantly and keep it coming so much that some will land and be effective.
