With Jon Fitch hurt, B.J. Penn won’t fight at UFC 132 in July

B.J. Penn (16-7-2 MMA, 12-6-2 UFC) will not fight at UFC 132.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with sources close to the Hawaiian that the UFC is not currently seeking an opponent for Penn, and "The Prodigy" will instead return to action at a later date.

Penn had been expected to take part in a rematch at the July 2 event with Jon Fitch (23-3-1 MMA, 13-1-1 UFC), but the perennial welterweight contender in March was forced to withdraw from the bout with a shoulder injury.

  2. If this is penns decision then all respect to him. The rematch isn't in BJs favour.

I wanted to see him take on someone else but i guess the ufc wasn't interested. If gsp decides to move up after the shields fight then this could turn into a title fight.

Penn is the one that pulled out because of his shoulder, and probably more so because of his desire for some extra time off. It wasn't that the UFC wasn't interested. go to BJ's website and there is a video blog of him telling why he pulled out.

So its Penn who's injured and not Fitch ??

The elusive question still remains .............. can Penn make 55 , if he can there is a whole host of fights id like to see BJ in , im assuming and presuming he cannot however !!

He himself maybe thinking about Nick Diaz , surely they could have Penn fight Diaz for the SF WW title

Judging by the show last night we'll be seeing UFC/SF unifications and superfights sooner rather than later and BJ V Gil is one of the fights Ive been wanting to see for the past two years or so

But can/will Penn make 155, I hope so
