Babic's opponent for Saturday - https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/646520 I could understand this if it was a comeback fight but he's been more active that 95% of fighters in the last year and walked through the lot. It just offers nothing of value to anyone.
This would be like watching a drunken brawl outside my local after closing time. Only with much less skill on display.
Jay McFarlane of two defeats to David Howe infamy would be a good fight for Babic, purely so a Rocky 4 style narrative can be formed when Babic ices him and Allen cuts back on the Toffee Crisps for two weeks and listens to John Cafferty - Hearts On Fire and Vince Dicola - Training Montage on loop while he runs around Doncaster in preparation to avenge his tubby pals pasting.
I may be in the minority on this but I would actually quite like to see Allen vs Babic, as it would mean one of them is one step closer to retirement and disappearing into obscurity, That, and it would be a fun, possibly brutal fight, with a lively build up as both of them are characters. How can we forget Dave 'I'm two fights away from AJ' Allen? It doesn't matter to me too much who Babic fights at the moment as I view him as a novelty act. A journeyman. gym fighter, fighting other journeymen boxers and/or ancient gatekeepers brought here by Eddie to lose. He's knocked a few of them out, and will himself get knocked out eventually. This Frenchman he is fighting next I have obviously never heard of but at least he is young (30), the same size as him, and as far as I can tell has only been stopped once and that was a TKO stoppage. The Hrgovic stuff he goes on about is just a joke as it's a stupid mismatch, and Hrgovic himself treats it as such.
Had a quick look at Spilmont, looks an incredibly slow out of shape southpaw, Babic really needs better opponents I'd even have preferred Cyril Leonet as a french journeyman.
