"Babilon Fight Night" on PolSat: Michał Cieślak vs. Olanrewaju Durodola RBR

Yeah but even long before MMA reached Poland, it was a cliché among Brazilians in combat sports.

Michał Cieślak vs. Olanrewaju Durodola, 10 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

This is, somehow, for the vacant Republic of Poland International 200lb championship. How exactly Durodola qualified to contend for that, I couldn't guess.

 

It will be a moral victory for Durodola if he can even last the distance with Cieślak, as the Pole's two previous African opponents (Hamza Wandera & Youri Kalenga) failed to do.

Cieślak's natural resting state is, apparently, breathing through his gaping mouth and staring off vapidly into the middle distance. Interesting. Let's hope that his ring IQ proves a little more reliable and we don't see him plod in clueless fashion after Durodola for 10 rounds peppering his guard.

 

Round 1

Cieślak is ducking halfway inside, batting away some Durodola jabs with both palms flitting out to neutralize them. Cieślak tries a left hook downstairs and then a couple of jabs up top, caught on the guard. Cieślak now turns southpaw - the plot thickens. Cieślak uses lots of body feints to bully Durodola nearly into the ropes and then reverts to an orthodox stance. They clinch and Cieślak lands some rabbit punches. Cieślak now southpaw again, piercing Durodola's guard wih quick right jabs and 1-2s. Now orthodox again. Cieślak is switching every half-minute or so. Durodola just stays rock-steady, balance shifting between his feet laterally with a rocking "boat sailing on calm waters" motion. Cieślak bats down a right jab from Durodola, who is ALSO now experimenting with southpaw..

Fascinating opener. Not a lot of punches landed but there were plenty of plot twists.
