Bull****!!!!! He looked softer than ever last night. Its a PROVEN FACT that if you burn more calories than your daily intake your body will start to use the energy stored in the fat form. Diaz is a kid, dont talk like he is 45 and his metabolism is slower. He doesn't loose it because he doesn't want too. But I understand he has been busy with other things. Its not easy to study and be a high caliber fighter at the same time.
You have a point there. He is not the most skilled fighter. But he naturally very strong. That is the only reason he is been in the ring against good fighter in a weight class were he doesn;t really belong. That strenght will carry him very far at 130. I think 126 would be too much. Plus, he will be faster and have better stamina. That way his corner will not have to tell him: "Take it easy, Take this round to rest" when he is losing a fight like it happened last night. I couldn't believe the corner was saying that. But I -guess they know him and know when he has nothing left in the tank.
Some fighters think running puts excessive strain on the joints, and to a point I agree with that. And once again, it isn't Diaz's stamina that is the issue here, swimming has given him great stamina. It's the fact that he is fighting at a weight class he is visibly too small for.
I rememer him being on a radio station here in Houston were someone called and told him that he wanted to be a boxer and ask him if it was necessary to run cuz that dude hated to run, and Diaz answers that has never ran in his life as far as preparing for a match he said he also hated running so he never ran. This was a couple of yrs ago....
Diaz looks the way he looks because of three reasons: diet, diet, diet. He probably should get a proper nutritionist, imo. Not only because he'll look better, but also because he'll feel better and be able to train better. Resulting in him being faster and maybe even more powerful!
He could easily burn his fat if he was dedicated to doing it... He may never have the muscle definition of other boxers but at least he wouldn't look flabby around the waist...
I wonder how many renowned trainers would allow Diaz to not do roadwork if he went to a new trainer? Can't be many!
It's not like his fat affects his game. His handspeed is still as fast as it's going to get and I can't imagine his stamina could possible get better. You have to wonder though if his power would be more of a factor at a lower weight.
In his defense, he was going to HIGHSCHOOL and UNIVERSITY all these years. No time fir everything....
