This content is protected Mesi will have a top 10 rating by the middle of 2008. :yep Look out Euro Heavies!! :bbb :happy This content is protected November 13, 2007 Fightnews discussed two specific issues with WBC Executive Secretary Mauricio Sulaiman: *With the gradual, successful continuation of former #1 WBC ranked heavyweight This content is protected career, and his unique status of being licensed to fight in some states as well as other countries, the WBC stated it's position on Mesi' situation and future ranking. "Joe Mesi's case is indeed very unique," said Sulaiman. "He took so many medical tests, an passed them, then went to UCLA, with whom the WBC is affiliated, and passed their stringent neurological tests without a problem. UCLA said that Mesi is at no more risk than any other boxer who has never had this type of injury. In that light, the WBC cannot ignore his progress. He was understandably rusty early in his comeback after two years. But he has improved and he will be eligible to earn a ranking as any other fighter would." Mesi has fought in Canada, Puerto Rico, Arkansas (twice), Michigan, West Virginia and most recently, Rhode Island. He is 7-0 with 4 KOs in his comeback, and 36-0, 29 KOs overall. Mesi , seems a real good guy but he is an accident waiting to happen. Boxing needs another ring death like it needs a second arsehole
Even in a depleted Heavyweight universe, Mesi will get hammered.Any one of the leading pudgy Russians, or the senior citizens in the top ten will destroy Joe.He should just shuffle off to Buffalo, and open an Italian Deli.Better than anticipating the next brain bleed.
I guess you didn't read this part. Either that, or you have more medical educatoin than these people do. One or the other. Go Mesi. :good I don't think you'll get very far, but you certiainly have the right to prove it.
HRH I certainly have nothing against Mesi but it seems like a crazy risk to take , but I guess if what you are saying is a man has the right to decide his own fate then in that respect I would agree with you. I wont watch him though !
Mesi was a legit top ten...but he seems to have lost a step. Tessier should never have been able to land punches on Mesi. He's been able to get quick ko's vs. weak comp lately but I think he's in big trouble vs. quality guys.
WBC is in it for the cash........and mesi generates cash. they (as any other boxing organisation) would rank a three legged dog if it brought them financial benefit.
Mesi seems to be gaining some confidence and getting his form back, somewhat, over the last couple of fights. So let's cut the man a break and allow him to play his ace card, at long last.. He's a decent looking white guy who can punch, is undefeated, and is marketable. He has apparently been deemed to be NO MORE AT RISK THAN ANYONE ELSE by medical professoinals with MUCH more medical knowledge than I have. So I say let's see what he's got and stop with the constant armchair doctoring bull****, cause noone on this site knows jack **** about the potential future risks of a healed brain annurism (sp?), so stop acting as if you do. That said, I know Mesi was wanting MOllo, next, but Mollo is going to fight Golota, so Mesi needs someone credible, now. I think he has progressed enough to be tested, don't you agree? Who should Mesi fight, now?
Breaks ??? You dont move up in the ratings till you fight and beat a higher fighter. Or unless your pro-mo team buys you a higher slot in the ratings. You shouldnt move up in the ratings by knocking out "Palooka's". Those are the type of opponents he has been facing. Joe Mesi has not earned any slot in the top 40 and so far === he doesnt deserve it. He has got to fight ---"SOMEBODY."
