only and above 160. If we went back to 15 rounds but only for championship fights this would give less relevence to the alphabet soup straps and the casual would know its a proper title fight with meaning. It would be done for fights that everyone recognised was a true championship fight and someone like the ring magazine could sanction it, which would in turn give Ring mag more mainstream attention and recognision.

The reason I say only 160+ is that we need to show it's designed for fighters that can settle the action. If we tried to make it for all classes like the 1980's, people will bring up Boom Boom Mancini and Korean Kim showing LW's have absolutely no business fighting for 45 mins because their economy of power/attrition can last too long in a prolonged but brain damaging beating, generally speaking.

15 rounds would sort the men from the boys, encourage fighters especially heavyweights to get in shape, give smarter fighters with better strategy and tactician more of a chance, make those big championship fights more compelling and a story within the fight (sometimes the 12 rounds it ends just when things are starting to get interesting) and it also would give television networks more ad time and revenue (those that show ads inbetween rounds and have recently been pulling the plug on boxing for that reason.

If we didn't have this silly hangup about the number 13, that would be the perfect number.

people complain about too much running in the ring and no action so there should be less rounds and not more.

Why not go to 15, 2 minute rounds for title fights? More action and more commercials for sponsors.

I do think 15 rounds seperates the champions from the rest of the herd, but we would have more brain trauma and death, so I voted no.

Too dangerous - history kind of proves this.

Plus that fact that even the most conditioned boxers today struggle to do much in the last 2 rounds shows that 15 is too much.

Mannnn, back in the day the heavyweight title was decided over 45 rounds outdoors w/ no air conditioning in the middle if the summertime. There were actual athletes - not imposters - back then who fought to the brink of exhaustion. Now these fat sacks of **** don't even have the audacity to come into a bout in fightin' condition. Things done changed. Of course championship fights should be 15 rounds. How can you have a championship without the championship rounds? It's what separates the men from the boys and for the amount of money thrown around at the championship level of our beloved sport these days I think the competitors not only owe it to us but to themselves as well.

15 rounds definitely came closer to proving who was the superior fighter.

But I'm about to watch the Thrilla again here in a few, and I don't think it's very good for boxing to have too many retirees in the current condition that Joe and Ali currently find themselves in.

Im all for it especially since the WBC stupid common sense study took it away It basically said rounds 13-15 are the most likely for fighters to get brain damage and such because of accumulation of punches they could do the same study with the exact same results for round 10-12 then 8-10 after that I like watching fighters fight and 15 rounds fights were a good thing motivate the damn heavyweight to train.

The difference between 15 and 12 rounds would have no bearing on that. Look at Foreman, Holmes . . . even Tex Cobb whose battering over 15 rounds at the hands of Holmes caused Howard Cossell to retire from the boxing game. Cobb went on to appear in movies . . . in speaking roles. Foreman did broadcasting. Then on the other hand you've got guys like Meldrick Taylor or Riddick Bowe who have never had a scheduled 15 round bout and you see how they fared. It has more to do w/ the type of fighter you are and your own natural propensity for being able to withstand punishment than it has to do with 15 or 12 rounds. As I said earlier, back in the day men fought for 45 rounds and after that sounded better than most of today's boxers b4 they even begin their careers.

As we saw last night on Friday Night Fights Mark Breland sounds and looks fine and Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker doesn't . . . and Sweet Pea was the greatest defensive fighter of all-time. None of them have gone beyond 12 rounds . . . and Pea was never even in a bout scheduled beyond 12 rounds. Sometimes you have to know when to say when and it's not always the smartest thing to win the Roberto Duran Award for the longest career in boxing. Boxing is a young man's game and has reverberating effects on those who insist on overstaying their welcome.

Everytime someone has a new way to get 15 round fights back in the sport, it sounds good at first glance. I don't think it's practical though. In my opinion, if there was better quality shows over the air, better promotion, and more satisfying ppv cards, we wouldn't even be thinking about this as something that really needed to be changed...
